Our boat then began a beautiful journey through the mangrove forests of the southern Thailand coast.  At places, the forest seemed to totally choke off the waterway our boat was using.  Along the way, we passed a small fishing village.  The sticks in the front of the village are cages set by the fishermen to keep the fish alive.  Throughout the mangroves we saw evidence of their nets which were cast out in the same manner as thouands of fishermen have done for generations.
Within the mangrove forest we came to Ko Pannyi where we ate lunch.  Ko Pannyi is a Muslim vilage of 500 families which is built entirely on stilts.   This "floating" village has a school, a mosque, a post office, several stores, and a soccer field!  The food here was some of the best food we've had since coming to Southeast Asia.
