Question 19 (Sawback Turtles)


    19A:
      Shell tan or brown, flat, with thin faint yellowish circular markings. Large rounded black knobs along keel of shell. Lower edge of shell yellow, orange or pinkish with intricate pattern. Wide yellow lines and markings on head, neck and legs. Found only in the Mobile and Tensaw river drainage of Southern and western alabama, and eastern Mississippi.

    19B:
      Shell dark olive or dark brown, flat, with bright orange or yellow rings. Large blunt black spines along keel. Lower shell with dark lines. Whitish or yellowish lines on head, neck, and legs. Found only in the Pearl River of Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana.
      Ringed Sawback Turtle, Graptemys oculifera

    19C:
      Shell dark olive or dark brown, flat, with large, bright yellow blotches. Large blunt black spines along keel. Lower shell with dark lines. Yellowish lines on head, neck, and legs. Found only in the Pascagoula River of southern Mississippi.
