Tutenstein: Three thousand years ago, this ten-year-old boy king, known as King Tut-ankh-en-set-Amun, was mummified -- but after a lightning bolt hits his sarcophagus (with a little unwitting help from Cleo Carter), he's brought back to life in the 21st Century. Now residing in a museum, but still believing that he's the ruler of the world, he attempts to live every day in the manner to which he is accustomed: as the pampered Pharaoh. Filled with regal authority, he expects to be treated as king, even though he's really just a pompous ten year old undead boy mummy. This does not mesh too well with the modern world around him. Tut has a highly-cultivated talent for getting into astronomical amounts of trouble through his own selfish desires, but beneath those bandages beats a heart scarab full of good intent to do the right thing when it comes down to it. Only his faithful cat-servant Luxor and his new tweenage friend Cleo (who nicknames him "Tutenstein") know that he's alive-and they intend to keep it that way. Cleo Carter: Cleo is a twelve-year-old girl who's directly responsible for reviving the odd boy mummy Tutenstein. Smart, wry, sassy Cleo soon befriends the boy king and does her best to keep him out of trouble. While Luxor the cat reveres his new Egyptian master and humors him in every way, Cleo is the true voice of reason -- she "tells it like it is." Like Luxor, she guards the secret that the mummy Tutenstein is alive and kickin'. But as she often threatens, she brought him back into this world, and if he keeps it up, she'll take him right back out. Like Luxor, she guards the secret that the mummy Tutenstein is alive and kickin'. But as she often threatens, she brought him back into this world, and if he keeps it up, she'll take him right back out. Luxor: Tutenstein's faithful cat-servant and advisor was once a "normal" cat and tweenage Cleo Carter's pet. However, after the boy mummy is raised from the dead, Luxor gains the power of speech and reveals that he's from a long line of cat-ancestors that have all protected their Egyptian kings throughout the history of ancient Egypt. Luxor is loyal to the core, prepared to do anything for his king. Always looking out for the best interests of the boy-mummy, Luxor is the only one who truly believes that Tutenstein is the ruler of the world. Luxor's days are spent doing the Pharaoh's bidding and in mostly-futile attempts to keep Tutenstein out of trouble. Professor Horace Behdety: Extremely ambitious and always angling for personal fame, the Professor (born in Cairo, raised in England) is the bucks behind the International Museum of World History. The middle-aged Behdety is snooty, officious, arrogant and ego-maniacal … making him the butt of many jokes and the victim of silly mishaps. (Many at the hands of Walter the Security Guard, or of Tut.) Dr. Roxanne Vanderwheele: The Professor's colleague is an extremely bright young scholar and a thoroughly modern archaeologist. The Doctor has devoted her life to researching the history and culture of ancient Egypt. In contrast to the Professor, she is open-minded and up-to-date on all technology related to the modern methods of archaeology, and she is also a mentor to Cleo. Walter Jacobs: Almost everything scares the museum's night security guard. Just out of college, Walter took this job because he likes staying up late at night, listening to music, reading comic books and playing video games -- and this security job lets him do all these things, and get paid for it. At first, the job was a breeze, but ever since Tutenstein moved into the museum, Walter's superstitions prey on him with a little help form Tutenstein. Set: The ancient Egyptian god of chaos and disorder. According to Ancient Egyptian mythology, Set, jealous of his older brother Osiris, the first king of Egypt, ambushed his brother and threw his body into the Nile River. One of Osiris's sons (Horus) avenged his father's death and sent Set to the Underworld for eternity. In this series, Tutenstein's mystical awakening has opened up a Gate between the Underworld and the Overworld -- and Set's evil power begins to grow again. Aware that there's still a Pharaoh in the world (Tutenstein), Set is eager to steal the boy mummy's symbol of power, the Scepter of Was, and rule the world. With the Scepter in his hands, Set will then be able to achieve his evil plans and spread his vast Legion of Demons across the world. |
