Gordon Lam
To tell you the truth, I never thought that he could make it this far.
I remember seeing him since I was a kid. At that time he always acted
in minor roles...and I do mean very minor. He just came in the scene and said
a few lines and then left. The first series that he made me feel that he was getting
some promotion is Debts of a Life Time. In this show he played a number two villain
who turned good in the end. I and my friend were a bit surprised that he got a bigger
role. After that I watched him played a real main guy in Time Before Time which is a
very good show - very funny and entertaining. After that I began to feel that he's a real leading man in TVB.
TVB gave him so many lead roles in these few years and most of his series got quite high ratings. He also acted in
some movies, but I only watched one, which was Gen-X cops. In Gen-X cops, he only appeared like 5 minutes, though.
I guess right now he tried to act in more movies.
My comment
He really deserves what he gets today because I think he must work so hard in TVB in his early days.
I saw him as a supporting character for many years before he got lead roles. Even though I think he overacted sometimes, I think he's a
pretty good actor when he got it right. Now, he's one of the top in TVB...so I guess his next step would be
trying to get more recognition in movie industry.
His most memorable role: gotta be Dai Fook Sung, from Reaching Out
Strengthes: He's quite a good actor. He can act in both comedy and serious drama. Very versatile because he can act as a extremely nice guy and villain. He got some charisma.
Weeknesses: Average looking, Started to get older(but not THAT old) and this could be an obstacle in his movie career because movie industry is full of young/teenage actors.
Trivia: Have you guys ever heard of a TVB series called Song Bird? It was in late 80s or early 90s I'm not sure. It's starring, Nadia Chan and Leon Lai. In my country they rerun this show a few years ago and I
saw Gordon along with Frankie Lam as real minor characters...and they appeared together to collect debts or something. It was very funny. I'm glad both of them finally can
make it in TVB today...I guess their working hard is really paid off.
His TV series
-- He was in so many series, so I'll wriiite only some of them that I remember. --
- Time Before Time
[Recommended]
He acted as a normal guy whom Kathy Chow's character(a ghost) believed that was
her husband in her past life. This show was very good and very entertaining. Gordon was
a real main lead and did quite a good job.
- Once upon a Time in Shanghai
this series was a remake of The Bund in the early 80s. The Bund was a classic, starring Chow Yun Fat and Ray Lui. Now in this one, Gordon acted as Ding Lik (Ray Lui's character in the 80s version)
He was a gangster and a sidekick of the main guy, Hui Man Keung (played by Sunny Chan) and they both fell in love with Nadia Chan's character.
- Old Time Buddies II
I don't like his portrayal in this one much...he can be funny at times, though. The series itself was not as good as part one. He paired up with Elaine Ng.
- The Disappearance
Acted as a invisible guy. I don't remember much about this series but it was an OK show. Anyway, nothing memorable.
He paired up with Astrid Chan here.
- A Measure of Love
At the beginning of the series he was a debt collector and he lived with his son. Later he worked for Fennie Yuen's company and they didn't get along well at first but fell for each other later.
In my opinion this is a good series. I think he did a great job here, too. I remember the scene where his son had to go to another country, and Gordon cried. That was so touching.
He and Fennie made a nice couple, too.
- Plain Love II

I can't really say much about this series because I haven't watch it yet. It's not like I don't want to but I can't find it anywhere from where I live.
I think I have to try harder in order to find it. Anyway, I still recommend this series because I heard a lot of good reviews on Plain Love II. So, I think it must be one great series.
- A Road to Eternity
At first he was like a very smart guy and had a promising future. Anyway, he decided to be monk and afterwards he had to go help lots of people.
That's all I can remember about this show. It's not very entertaining for me. It's got a nice theme, though.
- The Legendary Four Aces
[Recommended]
He acted as a scholar named Man Ching Ming. This character was very very upright and idealistic. He was the most serious guy among the four of them.
He fell in love with a princess (played by Nadia Chan) and they had to go through lots of hard times because the princess's father was really against them.
This is a good series, a bit draggy sometimes, but overall it's worth watching.
- Crimson Sabre
Some people complain about Gordon didn't look right for the part. For me, he looked OK. Well, maybe he didn't look young or
looked like a martial arts hero enough but he was not so bad. The series was all right. He had a love-triangle with Charmaine Sheh and Sarah Au in this one.
- Reaching Out [Highly Recommened]
I like this series and I like his character. He acted as Dai Fook Sung, a very optimistic kind of guy and
he always helped people. He and Kenix made a great pair. Gordon's acting was very good.
