Brief Summary:

Nick and Roger were inspectors in the same station but in different team. Roger lived with his son because his wife and him were divorced and she married to another guy(Joe Ma). Nick and his friend helped Roger raising his son sometimes. At work, Nick and Roger had different styles of working because Nick was more hot-headed, while Roger was a calm and quiet type. Nick's father owned a grocery store and he didn't get along well with Nick. Fennie was a sergeant who was just transfered to Roger's team.

Roger's wife came back and filed for a custody of her son. Roger won and he went to celebrate with his son. But then there was an accident and his son had to go to the hospital. There Roger found out that his son was, in fact, Joe Ma's son and not his. Moreover, his son was a hemophiliac, so for "his" son's sake Roger let him go to America with his ex-wife and Joe.

Fennie and her boyfriend planned to get marry but in fact he was a bad guy. Nick happened to work on the case that involved with Fennie's boyfriend so he tried to warn her. And he managed to catch Fennie's boyfriend finally. Fennie was mad at Nick because she thought that he was gossiping her with the other cop. And there were also some misunderstandings between them later. Anyway, when Nick got to know her better, he started to like her and with the encourage from Roger, Nick was openly after her, but Fennie didn't seem to interest.

Roger's ex-wife and Joe Ma died in the car accident, so Roger's son had to come back and live with him. His son didn't talk to anyone because he was in that accident and still shocked of what happened. Everyone tried to persuade him to talk but failed. Fennie was the only one he seemed to obey. Nick also tried to help by playing with him and did something funny but Roger's son didn't like it. Fennie and Nick's relationship got better and they started to date. Anyway, they always ended up arguing law because they had different point of views. After awhile Fennie managed to help Roger's son to talk and became normal again. Fennie had a fight with Nick but it was nothing serious, Roger gave her some advice. While Fennie was working, she always said that she felt much better when woking with Roger. Nick's mother ran away because she wanted Nick and his father's relationship got better...Fennie also helped them to understand each other.

Many years ago Roger put his own friend, Ting in jail and he felt guilty so he always helped taking care of Ting's girlfriend after that. Now Ting came out of jail and tried to be a good person but it didn't seem to work. Nick told Roger that he believed that Ting will never be good but Roger said he believed that Ting can be good again. At the same time, Nick and Fennie's relationship was getting worse. Fennie felt that Nick always told her to do this and to do that and it was always things that she didn't like. Nick didn't realize that, though.

Fennie started to get bored of Nick and hung out more with Roger. She got along well with his son and she felt that Roger never pushed her too hard like Nick did. Then Fennie did some mistakes in her job and felt very upset. Nick tried to cheer her up but that made her even more upset. On the other hand, she started to have feelings for Roger. Nick felt sad and didn't know what to do when Fennie asked for a break. He started to work hard and did lots of exercise, hoping that he would feel better and be able to sleep but it didn't seem to help. He told everyone that he can forget her, though.law

Then Nick got to go abroad for a training program for three months. During that time Roger started to like Fennie. Anyway, when Nick came back he told Roger that he still wanted Fennie back so Roger decided to step aside and tried to avoid Fennie. At one time, while Fennie was trying to catch a bad guy, she was hit by a car and she might become paralyzed. She told everyone that she was fine but in fact she wasn't. Nick was worried about her and he told Roger to pass things (i.e soup) to her. Roger felt awkward but he did it. Fennie thought Roger was the one who made soup for her and she was so happy. On Fennie's birthday, she tried to celebrate it with Roger but he said he was busy. lawAnyway, Nick came to her house and gave her an antique watch, she didn't accept it and said thigs like he should get over her. When Nick was about to go home, he saw her getting on a taxi and he decided to follow her. Fennie went to Roger's to yell at him about how he avoided her and stuff. Then when they came down, Nick saw them in front of the building and figured out what was going on between them. When Fennie let, Nick told Roger that they needed to talk then they had a fight and ended up not talking to each other. Ting (Roger's friend) decided to enter illegal business again but his wife and Roger tried to talk him out of it. On the other hand, Nick finally decided to step aside so he encouraged Roger to court Fenny. Roger still didn't make his moves, though. Then when the police tried to catch Ting he held Fennie as a hostage, Nick and Roger tried to help her. Ting's girlfriend successfully persuaded him to turn himself in...and that was when Roger showed his feelings for Fennie.

Review:
There's NOTHING in this series except for some love triangles. Other stuff like cases and family issues are just something to add so that it could be long enough for a twenty-episode series. The storyline was nothing special and can be boring at times. Most of the characters are boring to watch(except for Nick's character in the first half of the show) Roger's character was such a boring kind of guy in the show (No offense to Roger)... I mean yeah, he was a nice guy but he was way too nice and it's boring. But the character that I really don't like was Fennie's character esp. the way she treated Nick in the later part of the show. I think she was so unfair and kinda mean to him...I mean it's not like he was doing something that was really bad to her or to the others. He was, in fact, very sweet to her. Man, I felt bad for Nick's character and he was so pathetic. The thing is... he was just himself who happened not to be her type of guy that's all. But she treated him like he was so annoying just because she fell for another guy and didn't want to see him anymore. I can't root for this kind of character. The subplot was all right but not good...nothing special at all.

As for the performance of the actors.I've got to say the best one is Nick Cheung. He's the only guy in this show that can make his character fun to watch. He's very funny, too. I really like the way he looked at his friends when he was teased and stuff. Very cute.

Roger, for me, is quite a nice actor but he's a typed cast actor. He acted as a honest, sensible kind of guy again. I mean I didn't even recover from feeling bored watching him in ATE yet...and now another boring character. I think TVB really need to give him some different roles.

As for Fennie, I got to say this is quite a disappointment to me. I mean I always kind of like her in the show like I Can't Accept Corruption, Food of Love etc. But, in this one...she really underacted...and again it's boring to watch.

Helina Tam, I think she's better than the last time I saw in Nothing to Declare. Her acting was quite natural.

So, overall this series is not really worth watching if you're not a die-hard fan of Nick, Roger or Fennie. Anyway, maybe you could watch it for Nick's sake because Nick left TVB now and we don't really know when will he come back again. But if you REALLY have nothing to watch then it might be a possible way to kill time.
