(Peter in chains, waiting for execution)

Well, God, uh.. I guess this is it. Unless you're coming through, here, my ministry is done. It's been quite a ride. I mean, look where this fisherman from Galilee has gone because of You!

I still don't know what you saw in me, that day. You just said, "Follow me." For that matter, I don't know what I saw in you. I just knew that I had to go.

And then, among the twelve you called, there was the three: Peter, James and John. Now, I can understand choosing James and John, Lord. They were ... young, energetic.. free. But I had a wife and a family. And you still called me.

And then you went and healed my mother-in-law! What had I done to deserve that? (Chuckle) Well, I guess that did grease the wheels with the wife for a while.

But, even after the miricles and healings and authority you showed, I still didn't believe. Yeah, OK, I jumped out of the boat onto the water for a minute, but, even that didn't last. What a foolish man I am.

How is it possible to know, and yet, not believe? Well, it finally caught up with me, when you weren’t around to keep me in check. Not that you didn’t try. You told me that I’d deny you, and I was so sure I wouldn’t.

And then that rooster crowed. I knew what I’d done. I knew that you knew what I’d done. There was no hiding it, no running from it, nothing to do, but weep, knowing that I could never ask you to forgive me.

And then you did.

(blackout)

Transition into sermon on grace. We followed this with a song from Third Day about Peter.
