She's been dumped by her fiance & her show is sinking fast |
Talk show host Caroline Rhea is turning to psychics in a desperate bid to see what her future holds after being dumped by her longtime fiance, Bob Kelty. "I think Caroline's world is crumbling," says a source close to the 39-year-old funnylady. "Her daytime talk show is being cancelled all over the country because of poor ratings, then she came home to find her fiance packing his bags and moving out. "She was devastated, but deep in her heart, she already knew it was over. She's heartbroken - not just because they split up, but her dream of becoming a mom went out the door with Bob, too. "In recent months, Caroline has become consumed with having a baby. Now she's terrified that dream will never come true." The breakup is especially painful because Rhea, Rosie O'Donnell's talk-show replacement, asked viewers to help plan her wedding, then postponed not one, but two dates for the Big Day. She admitted to having a fear of marriage. She blamed her parents' divorce when she was 15 for leaving her so conflicted that it took her years to find a man who could help her overcome her commitment phobia. "Your whole sense of what men and women mean to each other gets messed with," Rhea explains. "For me, it was always about having a career so I wouldn't be vulnerable. The idea of having someone be important to me ... I was afraid." She thought Kelty, an AIDS fund-raiser, was special when they met at a charity benefit several years ago. They became engaged in April 1999 and Rhea bought her wedding dress - "pink with organza all over it." But the couple never took that walk down the aisle, and Rhea is shattered. "She's under so much pressure over her talk show going down the tubes, breaking up with Bob, and maybe losing the chance of becoming a mom that she can't talk about things without bursting into tears, says the source. "It's like no aspect of her life is working out the way she wants, and that's really painful. "She's really worried about her career. She didn't want to fail on TV, but she feels the odds were stacked against her, and she wants to come back really quickly before she's written off as a failure. "The same applies to her love life. She really wants to find a new man quickly, because she feels her biological clock is ticking away." Rhea decided to ask for supernatural help, sources reveal. "She's desperate to know what the future holds and has been asking anyone who might have some answers," says the friend. "She even had consultations with a psychic in New York." Thankfully, she got some good news. "The psychic told her to hold on," says the friend. "She will find love and things will get better." |
