The Cosby Show was not a new idea for its time. Its story is based on a family where the father is in charge of the household, and when one of the children does something wrong, the father teaches them a lesson. This family-viewed television show aired for a long time due to its respectable morals and ideals. There usually is a happy ending to every situation. The Huxtables live in a picture-perfect world. No one dies, no one commits crimes, everyone is just happy. The children don't disrespect their parents without being punished and every problem is sought after and corrected in a calm manner. Most people would assume that this is not the way and average family lives, but a high standard goal.
