Job Shadowing Day

Our GAPPIES went all over the area this morning to job shadow with some of the parents in our program. Some went to a recycling center, others to an institute for the handicapped, yet others to a plastics factory. Shannon, Brianna, Vannessa, Kelley and Lindsay went to a home for the elderly. Here we are picked up by the "Senioren" van. After a tour of the facilities, the big event of the morning for us all was the "activity hour" where the seniors are led in various singing, dancing and musical activities. Lindsay made one elderly man very happy by dancing with him.

Dancing was also part of the morning. Our girls brought some joy to some people who otherwise lead a relatively uneventful life. And then it was Brianna's turn to brighten someone's day.

Some of the hand motions that were part of the songs posed even a challenge to the GAPPIES. At the end of the activity time, it was time for a great lunch in the dining area of the home. We had a delicious lunch with ice cream for dessert and then returned to the school. It will be a day our girls will not soon forget.
