Detour
-This is easily my favourite episode. It seems to encompass everything Mulder and Scully’s partnership has become. Mulder finding an escape route from the conference and Scully makes and excuse (personally I think she was glad to get out of the conference). The way they made jokes by the campfire even though they were in a life and death situation. Seems like this kind of situation has become quite normal for them.
-I really enjoyed the plot of the invisible men, but I really wasn’t sure how they were going to explain it. But the “Fountain of Youth” theory I actually believed
-What exactly was that lady expecting when she poured her heart and soul out to Mulder? OK at first he did look kind of official when he came up to her in his suit and tie. But eventually she found out that he was just stretching his legs but she just kept on talking. Makes you wonder how many people she talked to till our loveable FBI agent came along, “Uh . . . lady I’m just the mailman.”
-Scully seemed pretty shocked in the hotel at the fact that Mulder was actually going to pursue this case (she thought he just wanted out of the conference). So what exactly was she planning to do all night with him? Sit and talk while drinking some wine? Seems to me Scully liked the outcome of Small Potatoes more than she lets on and wanted to see if she could recreate it with the real Mulder.
-I loved Scully’s “Jeremiah was a bullfrog”. I had that song stuck in my head for days afterwards. But um did neither of them think that maybe just maybe this might show Inviso guys where they are?
-Man do I admire Scully, when Michelle gets sucked into the ground Scully manages to yell “Mulder, I need help! Mulder!” That’s four more words than what I would have been able to say, I would have just screamed “HELP!” than started to cry (of course I’d never be their in the first place, I’d be at home curled up under my bed just in case Inviso Guys decided to come for a visit).
-Things I Learned:That explorers used to carve things into stuff just so it could be found years later in cave full of dead people.
-Fashion Thought:Gee Scully is lucky. Usually to conferences and stuff she chooses to wear skirts but this time she goes with pants. Its almost like she knew she’s go on a field trip to the woods.
-Best Line:Scully: “However, I must remind you this goes against the Bureau’s
policy of male and female agents consorting in the same motel room
while on assignment.”
Mulder: “Try any of that Tailhook crap on me, Scully, I’ll kick your
ass.”
