Schizogeny

-At the beginning of this episode I thought it was looked stupid I honestly did than less then halfway through I realized that the episode wasn’t stupid it was me. What I was watching was classic X-Files, the kind of stuff the show was built on, a weird plot, Mulder and Scully not exactly sure what was going on but determined to get to the bottom of things, and the eerie feeling that maybe I shouldn’t be watching the show in the dark. I had gotten too used to the episodes so far this season; plenty of mythology, experimental black and white episodes and a whole episode based on the Lone Gun Men.

-Our little agents don’t have that much luck with forests and trees do they? Crazy bugs that hate the light and inviso men haven’t taught them that trees and them don’t mix. This episode it was some kind of root system that had the urge to pull people into the ground. From what I gather it was somehow caused by Karin, a therapist who needed therapy, who was inhabited by her fathers spirit that could by some means control the trees. What? There was actually no final explanation, as Mulder states, no one was able to figure out how all the people kept getting pulled into the mud and were happy to leave it as is. Well if that’s good enough for Mulder and Scully its going to have to be good enough for me.

-When Patti the Mother said she felt everything happened for a reason I wondered; “than why’d you get such a bad dye job? Did your normal shade not happen for a reason?”

-When Scully saw Creepy Orchard Man for the first time and Mulder missed him because his foot got stuck I figured the guy’s evil power was being able to pull a “Polkaroo”. When Scully saw him for the second time and it looked like Mulder wasn’t going to see him I hoped he would say “Aw, I missed him again!”

-Does everybody except Mulder and Scully suck at investigating? Mulder figures out that the glass dispersement is all off for someone being pushed out the window. Did the people who investigated not notice this? Or were they just in a rush to get to their coffee break?

-Scully’s reaction to the root filled grave was hilarious! “Mulder… Where’s the body?” How was he supposed to know?

-Here’s an unanswered question for ya; the neighbourhood crazy lady was sucking the neighbourhood teenager being accused of murder into the ground, Mulder was trying to pull the guy out. Obviously he was unsuccessful because the kid kept getting sucked in, up to his head in fact. Well all of a sudden Crazy Karin decided to suck him in too. Suddenly Mulder was also up to his neck in mud. So here’s my question; why was Mulder in just as deep when the kid had been there longer? Do stylish FBI agents get pulled faster than unhygienic teenagers? I’m not even going to ask why Creepy Orchard Man was efficiently on hand to help them, because he seems to enjoy hanging out in a dieing orchard.

-Clothes Call: Bobby wore some stuff I wouldn’t put on a dog (actually I prefer not to dress dogs, I believe that’s why they have fur).

-Best Line: Mulder: “Is it possible that he took the term "mud pie" literally?”

Rating: 7 1/2 dieing trees out of 10
