I'm still waiting for a definate word on "Killer Instinct" before adding it to TV Hell. It's pretty much a definate that it's a gonner, but still not 100 percent. "Arrested Development" would be a great fit on cable, but I doubt that Showtime would be willing to pony up the production costs. The show creators are going to make a 'last show' to officially bury the show as well.

FOX did cancel "Quintuplets" last year. I don't know about any pland for DVD, but usually a show needs more than 1 season to make DVD production worth it financially.

Weeds - Showtime's original series took me in after only two episodes, but do you know if this one is returning?

Not for free. The industry trades have that info, but they are expensive and heavily guarded at most affiliates and O&O's. The Nielsen numbers are expensive and guarded because it determines a stations advertising rates. Hi. I just found out from your website that Life & Style was cancelled in March, 2005. So why is it still on the air? I am curious why the show is still accepting audition tapes for people to be on the show, as well as giving away tickets to tapings? Do they have a contract that they must stay on the air for a certain amount of time?
They are airing the unaired shows that were already 'in the can'. The promos for audition tapes are just part of the package that makes up the time alloted for the show. Also, they want people to keep watching right to the end (for advertisers), so they don't want to let the masses know that the show is not returning.

There use to be a show I can remember, on Comedy Central I think, that was very much like Kids in the Hall except different. They were a group of guys doing crazy and funny skits. I remember the opening to the show included a wall of a house falling onto one of the cast members through the window. Also when they cancelled the show, the commercial was a skit with all of the actors in orange jumpsuits "about to go to jail" for a long time becuase on an "incident".

Both oldies and "standards" are being ditched all over the country in favor of younger skewing formats. My advise to you is to get satellite radio (either Serius or XM) because they both offer multiple stations that play oldies and standards. I have Serius and am very happy with it. The cost is a bit prohibitive at first, but for only $12 a month you get commercial free chrystal clear radio of every variety. WSBA-TV (Ch. 43) was a CBS affiliate in York up until about 1983. The station changed call letters to WPMT and eventually became a FOX affiliate. I distinctly remember the slate that was broadcast before the "new" station signed on. I also remember watching the station when it was an independent for the short time before FOX was born. Missing from CBS fall 2005 line-up are Judging Amy, Joan of Arcadia, 60 Minutes (on Wednesday) and JAG, four the network's five oldest skewing shows. Also not returning: Jason Alexander sitcom Listen Up, and Old Christine.
Although just one new comedy, My Name is Earl, is certainly not a cure for the current sitcom drought, NBC will introduce two additional sitcoms, Four Kings and Thick and Thin, in midseason, and has renewed the critically acclaimed, but minimally seen, The Office for a second season. Current or recent NBC series that did not make the cut include Third Watch, American Dreams, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Committed and Medical Investigation. Although Fear Factor and Scrubs are not on the schedule, both series will return in midseason.
Also moving to new time periods are Wife Swap, According to Jim, Rodney, Boston Legal, George Lopez, Alias and Supernanny. Only two nights of the week -- Saturday and Sunday -- will remain unchanged. Canceled series include Eyes, Blind Justice, My Wife and Kids, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, Extreme Makeover and Complete Savages. Sitcoms Less Than Perfect and Jake in Progress, and reality hour The Bachelor will return in midseason.

Q. Will the NBC Medical/Detective show called (Medical Investigation)
return to NBC tv this fall?
Yup. NBC ordered another full season.
Sorry, but I'm worried about Boston Legal. It seem that the soft core porn they call a show (Grey's Anatomy) is doing well and it makes me so friggen angry. I may be dumb on the subject because I've not seen the show. The reason why is because in every single advertisement for the show, it's subject is "Who's sleeping with who in the hospital" and it angers me that a show like that trumps Boston Legal which has superior writing and great acting from James Spader and William Shatner. It's appalling.
Well, my question to you is, is there a resource by which I can check for when Boston Legal will be on? Any news of the schedule on it for Fall? Can you pull some strings with the network execs to get Boston Legal on a great time slot? Thanks.
BTW, you're site is the best. Thank you for providing us all with this wonderful resource.
Thanks! "Boston Legal" will be back this Fall. ABC is looking at placing it in the 10-11PM slot on either Sunday or Monday night. They haven't made a decision yet. I agree that the public seems to like really dumb shows. Look at the FOX network's hits for a prime example over the past 10 years!
-American Dreams
According to epguides.com, all these shows won't be returning next season.
Thanks!
I would like to know about 3 different shows. first is Blind Justice on ABC. You and others poked fun at the concept , but it appears to be an excellent show and well thought up. Do you have any idea how it is doing and what its future is? Also how about the new Law And Order (Trial By Jury) and CBS' Num8ers.....That is my favorite new show and I always worry when I like something this much because it feels like the networks or critics always think differently. Any comments would be greatly appreciated and also keep up the good work , you do a hell of a job on this site as I said b4.
"Blind Justice" is set to return and is performing ok for ABC, not a top show, but doing fairly well. I personally don't care for it and find the entire concept of the show really stupid - but that's only my opinion. All of the "Law & Order" series are not performing as well as last year. The latest, "Trial by Jury" isn't raking in the viewers yet either. It is in the middle of the pack and will return for another season. "law & Order - CI" (The Columbo one) is even returning - and that particular show isn't doing well at all. "Numb3rs" is "on the bubble" and is 50/50 on another season. I haven't seen that one yet - although it looks like it would be a good show. Definately a great cast anyway. Here is a link to the top 20 rated shows FYI: http://tv.yahoo.com/nielsen/
I heard that last week was the last episode that will ever air of Tru Calling. :-( Sigh!
Yup. After the season finale didn't even get scheduled, it was pretty obvious that FOX wasn't going to renew Tru Calling. Still no 'official' word, but it's safe to say that Tru Calling has been cancelled.
Is this show ending? Seems like she quit being a judge that ends the show's title. Any thoughts?
It is still scheduled to return in the Fall as of last week. I don't watch "Judging Amy" so I can't comment on the storyline, but my guess is that they will work something out to make the title relevant.
Lizzie McGuire is a horrible kids show, which stars a bad actress (and
even a bad singer) Hilary Duff. It was cancelled for good in February 2004.
Thanks!
I see I'm not the only one who accidentally refers to Boston LEGAL as Boston PUBLIC. Anyway, Grey's Anatomy was only put on in Legal's time slot for a trial basis, and the run ends soon. It's ratings have been even higher than Public's though, so it's been said that Grey's will probably return in the post D H time slot in the fall, and Legal will move to another night.
Too many great shows have been canceled or ended their runs this year. I cried at the end of the last NYPD Blue knowing no new ones would air again. I cried when I read that Third Watch was canceled. I'm pissed that shows like Point Pleasant and Dead Like Me have been canceled, and Queer as Folk will soon start it's final season. BTW, it was from your website today that I found out about Dead Like me, and I'm really upset. I was looking forward to another season of that great show.
It's that time of year, and there are a lot of long-running shows that aren't getting good enough ratings to justify their cost, etc.
Several web sites seem to indicate that Fox’s Tru Calling has been cancelled.
"Tru Calling" is still "on the bubble". FOX ordered half of a seasons worth of shows - so it might return as a Mid-Season replacement in the Fall, or as a summer run. After that 6 episde run though.... It depends on how well (ratings) they do.
I thought the show starred Nikki Cox. Good looking young woman is engaged or has serious relationship with male character. Another male character has the hots for the same woman.
The last thing that I remember Nickki Cox in was "Nikki", a sit-com that took place on the Vegas Strip. She then was in the show "Las Vegas" with James Caan. Anyone else have an idea?
I think ABC has a bit of a quandry on its hands. "Boston Legal" and "Greys Anatomy" are both excellent shows in my mind. They advertise greys as one of the best new shows on TV, but with 'Boston' returning for at least 27 more episodes, how or what will they do with 'Greys'? Maybe a different night cause you know "Desperate Housewives" isnt going anywhere? Any answers on this one?
There is a good article on this in Zap2it HERE. My guess is that 'Boston Public' will return in the fall, and 'Greys Anatomy' will move to Mondays. Just a guess on my part though...
You have listed Rodney as being cancelled but they keep showing new episodes. I think its a very funny show. Is there any reason to believe ABC may have changed their mind, and also how did Jake in Progress do? I think that was funny as well. Thanks for keeping up with this website.....I check it almost daily.
Good catch! ABC did renew "Rodney" this season. "Jake in Progress" is still "on the bubble", so it's 50/50 based on whatever ABC can find to replace it, or if they think that it can find more viewers over another season. I am being told that most likely "Jake" won't return, but that's not a definitive word yet. Thanks for the kind words!
How about current game shows on PAX, like Balderdash and On the Cover? Food Network shows?
PAX will be cancelling all of its shows soon according to Paxon Communications, and going all infomercials - seriously. "Balderdash" and "On the Cover" are still on the PAX schedule for now though. As for the minor cable networks like "Food Network", "Bravo", VH1, and "E!", etc - they are hard to cover because their 'shows' come and go quickly.
It was already cancelled (last year, Fox stopped filming after 6
episodes), but waited until now to show them and is not showing the 6th
episode anyway, meaning tonight's episode is the last one.
I had heard that if the show were to somehow become a hit - that FOX would have brought it back. Pretty strange way to go about things though, because it would have cost a lot more to bring a show back after all of this time.
Marti Noxon worked on this before Point Pleasant and as far as I know,
it never aired; however, IMDB.com shows a release date of June 2005. This
was originally shot in 2003-04. It was to be on Fox. Ay idea if Fox is
going to air the canned eps? Or has it been picked up by SciFi or FX or the
like?
I checked and only got a response that FOX is planning on giving the show a summer mini-launch. That means that it's basically a trial run during the network downtime that is summer. Stranger things have happened....look at "Family Guy" for example!
This show was a cartoon basically. It was about a family of lions who worked for Siegfried and Roy. One of the characters voices was John Goodman. The show just disappeared.
NBC had gigh hope for this one. Carl Reiner was involved in this as well. Ratings never happened for this one though. It was officially cancelled in December.
The Larry Elder Show and Ambush Makeover. Got the info from the mediaweek.com website last week. They are usually very accurate about cancellations.
Thanks! "Mediaweek.com" is an excellent source, as is "TVTomb.com".
Has American Dreams been officially cancelled?
NBC has ordered another 17 episodes for the next season - so it will return. While "American Dreams" is only a so-so rated show in the US, it is surprisingly popular in France, Israel, and Australia. Either way, it's in the syndicator's (Universal) best interest to keep this one alive for another season...
Ok, I've not seen Boston Legal staring the wonderful James Spader, William Shattner, and Candice Bergan. Um, what happened to my show? It's still on right? OMG, if I weren't on a Desperate Housewives high, I would be crying at the absence of the show. Help me out. What's going on with Boston Legal.
You're in luck - "Boston Legal" is only on a break. The show will be returning for at least one more season - and the next season is supposed to be a 27 episode season!
To Whom it may concern,
"Second Time Around" was cancelled in January, 2005.
Thank you. I was just trying to show Ryan and it was gone!
(he of course has confirmed that his mom is losing it! LOL)
Hopefully we won't be on your list!
I'm sorry for any distress...! Every now and again a source doesn't get something right. Luckilly someone always catches the mistake - and it doesn't get better than the people involved with the show itself correcting a mistake. Thanks!
# 536 Quintuplets was not cancelled in March. It is still on the bubble and according to the director likely to renew.
That's not what I'm hearing - but I will remove it until it is officially cancelled (not that I am hoping for anything like that). I usually don't add shows to TV Hell until it's official anyway.
I just read your list of cancellations. #536 Quintuplets?? Where do you get your information from?? Someone posted it on the Fox Quintuplet's website.
Is this a mistake...first of all they are not 5 boys (maybe mistaken with Complete Savages?)
My sources usually start with people that Email me with news on cancellations, then I contact my sources at three different trade mags. I also have a few friends that work at some of the networks that help out. I also work in TV, but not in programming. Lastly, the AP wire sends news of cancellations on the Entertainment feed. With "Quintuplets" I am being told that it is "on hiatus" and won't likely return. Do you have any different information on this? My goof on the cast though...sorry.
JAG (CBS)
Thanks!
It looks like unless they end up on another channel like Sci-Fi, this
show has been cancelled by Showtime.
I heard that Showtime has cut their original programming budget by quite a lot this year. I guess that they are just going to concentrate on movies and leave the rest for HBO...
Third Watch (NBC) and Point Pleasant (FOX) are on the tv guide news as being canceled. Just today this happened.
Thanks!
Who is televising Nationals games? Tom - Oriole fan but national league fan.
As of now (a week away from the first game) they don't have an "official" deal. Most likely it will be a split deal between FOX owned WTTG-TV5 and WDCA-TV20 in Washington DC. The best place to keep up to date with that would be http://www.dcrtv.com.
It seemed to fizzle in its 2nd season (the 1st season ended with a pageant. I was watching the 2nd season but it seemed to disappear abruptly way before a pageant could occur.
"The Swan" is officially "on hiatus". It's ratings were dismal last season, so at most it might return as a replacement show or summer show to air it's remaining episodes. That's only speculation though.
Looks like Point Pleasent is also cancelled. All mention of it has
vanished from the Fox website.
Yup, it's a gonner...!
Third Watch has been cancelled by NBC after 6 seasons. Thanks for your site.
Thanks!
Third watch will officially not be back for a 7th season for sure. It will have its series finale at the end of this, its 6th and final season.
Thanks for the link!
Third Watch (NBC), Point Pleasant (FOX), Pat Croce: Moving In (SYN) and Life & Style (SYN)
Thanks!
Point Pleasant?
And a medical show that was on last year (2004 maybe 2003) and a famous black man whom I can't think of his name was the main guy....? Help I can't think of this show.
"Point Pleasant" was cancelled. Anyone know the answer to her question?
I think you missed that rediculous show where Macenroe made people sit in that chair and answer questions as he torchered them to see if they would crack.
It's #517. That was a painful show to watch....
Jane Pauley's talk show on NBC was just cancelled today.
Poor Jane...
NBC Universal has cancelled freshman syndicated talker The Jane Pauley Show.
The hype and buzz wore off very quickly on this one - and I'm surprised that 'Jane' lasted this long.
Will West Wing return for another season?
Yup, "West wing" will be around for at least another season.
I didn't see the recently ended NYPD blue on the list. Also, Everybody Loves Raymond will end soon. Last episode is supposed to air in May I think.
Also, keep an eye on NBC sitcom Committed. It's going through it's 13 episode commitment and it's been by far NBC's lowest rated show every week.
Thanks!
You missed BIG from The Discovery Channel. It was cancelled in
December 2004 after 13 episodes.
Thanks! Cable shows are hard to keep up with.
Quintuplets (FOX) Show about parents who have quintuplets. Funny on occasion. Andy Ricter starred.
Thanks! Andy's luck isn't going so well with sit-coms...
#483 and #515 are the same--Life with Bonnie.
Thanks!
Maybe I just overread it (or I just messed up the date) but I think you forgot CBS' "Baby Bob" based on the car commercials with the talking baby that no one liked.
Ahh yes, "Baby Bob". That show was cancelled in late 2003, then brought back briefly in mid 2004. I for got to add that again. Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks and you're welcome!
Rodney(ABC) Show about family man who tries to be a stand up comedian. Based off material by Rodney Carrington.
Thanks!
First I have to agree about WJZ Channel 13 in Baltimore. It is
horrific. Marty Bass' snow show is the worst. I am a fan of WBAL Channel 11.
Are you local to Baltimore?
Do you have any info if ABC's Rodney and According to Jim will return
next season? I do not know why but I love those shows!
Also, is ABC pulling the plug on 8 Simple Rules yet?
Finally, Is the verdict out on Joey?
Thanks very much.
I'm actually living on Kent Island, so I have reception of Baltimore, DC, and Salisbury TV stations. I'm originally from NY and have worked at a bunch of TV stations there. With that said, WJZ-13 would be embarassing for me to work at!
I thought I heard that Arrested Development had been cancelled. Is that true?
According to the FOX Website (click for story), "Arrested Development" is not cancelled.
You should be on TV with the big dogs or be with Ebert
and Maltin and them. The wesbsite is great. A lot of
shows were canceled that I knew nothing about. If it
wasnt for your site I wouldnt have known Hawaii,
Touching Evil, Wanda At Large, or other shows were
canceled.
Thanks! What the site lacks in asthetics (it's pretty ugly), hopefully it makes up for in content. I wouldn't mind Eberts' paycheck either. What a great job too - just watch movies and give reviews. Unfortunately I don't like subtitled foreign movies enough, and I actually like some popular movies and "youth oriented" comedies.
I avoid watching Channel 13 in the morning for one reason, Marty Bass and his ego. Don Scott is is an absolute professional and it is a same to have him teamed up with him. They should have Bass doing remotes from the the coal mines in Kitzmiller, MD.
I don't understand WJZ one bit. The look of their local news has always been very small market (amature), and the 'talent' has always been second rate. They shoot the reporters way too close-up, the set looks cheesey, the graphics are cheesey, 'talent' like the one that you mentioned have horrific accents, the lighting is bad, and the music is 1970's. WJZ-TV is a CBS owned and operated station in a top-20 market (Baltimore), but it looks like a station that could be in market 150-something. I don't know how they are consistantly either #2 or #1 in the ratings there. I at least don't see how they are beating WMAR-TV (ABC-2).
Hey, get a slot ready for this show which is suppose to start on ABC in March. Give a blind cop a gun and do a show about it - yeah, like that's going to make it!!!
Yeah, that will (*cough*) make it! Sometimes you have to wonder how a show like that can get past the idea pitch, to funding, to casting, to scheduling...
The Benefactor (ABC) dot com billionarie Mark Cuban's basterd child of NBC's Apprentice.
Complete Savages(ABC) Show about single dad who raising all boys. Lasted 1 season.
Thanks!
The Will (CBS):
Show about contestants performing stunts in order to win the Will of a millionaire. Only 1 show aired.
Thanks!
"Life as we know it" (ABC). Show about teenagers in Seattle. Never Found an audience. Kelly Osbourne was on it.
Thanks! Maybe Kelly & Crew will disappear soon...!
UPN has announced the cancellation of Enterprise. The first time since TOS that this franchise has been cancelled.
Thanks for the update!
Hi- great site again, just wanted to mention Family Guy's new episodes start in May after the Simpsons. Re- runs of the show are airing now in the 9pm timeslot. Many papers are crediting this as the "official" first time ever a series has returned to a major network after being cancelled. A great show returns from TV hell!!!!
Keep up the great work- S Pericozzi
Thanks! "Family Guy" did gangbusters in DVD sales and does very well for Cartoon Network. FOX smelled the $'s and brought it back once more. Family guy was cancelled one time before as well, and brought back from the dead a season later. Hopefully FOX will leave the show on in one specific time period and not move it all around like it did the last time. It's a totally bizarre show, but I'm a fan. My question is exactly who can understand what the baby is saying? I know that the dog can...
Fox has announced that Tru Calling will not be returning.
Thanks!
A couple living together in a major city break up and
neither wants to move out of the great apartment they
share.
Thanks! Yup, it was cancelled in 2003.
I did not see any upcoming shows on TiVo? Is it cancelled?
"Touching Evil" : Show about a cop who loses his sense of being nice after getting shot. Produced by Bruce Willis.
Thanks for the info. Bruce Willis a Producer...!
"Andromeda" is supposedly in it's final season on Sci-Fi ...
Thanks! I'll check into it.
When Will there Be a page for San Francisco TV stations ?
THe news is all about protesting out here
We don't have any reporters in the San Francisco area. If you or anyone else would like to give us reviews of your areas TV and/or radio stations, they will be added to the site. We could also use updates on our NYC TV page...
FYI
Thanks!
Am I the only one in the world that is missing "The Division" with Bonnie Bedelia? Such a good show. Is it among the dead, or will it return? Also, "Life With Bonnie", one day they are raving about the show, and the next day it is gone. I will never figure out the Thinking process of TV people.
"The Division" was cancelled back in June 2004 and "Life With Bonnie" was cancelled in April 2004. Unfortunately, with all of the competition out there, shows aren't given much of a chance if they even slip a small percentage.
Off the top of my head I can think of 3 more shows that got canned;
Northern Exposure, Family Guy, and the short lived (think it was around 90 - 91) Dear John.
I only list shows that have been cancelled post "Seinfeld" (1998 - had to start somewhere). "Family Guy" has been un-cancelled and will be returning in May with new episodes.
What about the show Touching Evil on the USA network?
"Touching Evil" is on hiatus or "break" until USA confirms that it wants another full season order. Cable shows often take long breaks without weekly re-runs, unlike the shows that are on the broadcast networks. A good example of this is "The Sopranos" which takes breaks that last over a year.
Did 'Tru Calling' get canned? I hope not.
FOX has "Tru Calling" on "Hiatus". There are six episodes ready to go, and FOX will show them at some point. They aren't sure if they will order any more episodes though.
See subject line?
Thank you
Martin Short's "Jiminy Glick" is coming to the big screen ala "Lalawood" this Spring (2005).
Is the audition shows even worth watching with bad singers in it?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of the "American Idol" series - usually music that I don't like sung poorly. From what I have heard though, most people like watching the early shows because they like seeing/hearing the really bad contestants make fools of themselves.
Hi, I was just wondering if you knew if the WB has cancelled The
Mountain?
Yup, "The Mountain" was cancelled last week.
Do you know if second season of Tru Calling will be aired? It was suppose to come back in November, then January but now I can't find it. Also it seems Dead Like Me was doing well and I heard it was cancelled. That show was great. Know why it was cancelled?
BTW...keep up the good work!
"Dead like me" was pulled because it cost too much money to make for Showtime. The show might end up on The WB Network as they have been offered it and are supposedly considering it. Here's the story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/cult/2005/01/06/16381.shtml. "Tru Calling" is still supposed to return this spring (2005).
What happened to the show simply called "The Days" that aired over the summer on ABC? They have removed all info from their website but never officially cancelled it. It was a family drama about a 15 or 16 yr old kid counting down the days till his days of adulthood. The mothe and daughter were both pregnant at the same time and the father quit his job as an attorney to "find himself". The last episode aired had the mother rushing home and getting in a car accident , and that was it. Anything you can find out will be greatly appreciated. Also , will LAX be returning to NBC or is that another dissapointment for me. Thanx for your help.
Bad news - both shows have been cancelled. LAX is supposed to briefly return to air the last of the shows that are already "in the can". One is scheduled for January 22nd.
The name of the show is "Andromeda", starring Kevin Sorbo of "Hercules" fame, and I believe it is finishing its last season on the Sci-Fi channel...
Thanks for the info!
You forgot Mutant X, Andromidea.
Thanks! I can't find any info on "Andromidea" - What was that?
I'm pretty sure the short-lived trivia/reality show 'Studio 7' on the WB was cancelled after it ran one season in the summer, it was on their Fall Schedule but never came up again. also, isn't 'the surreal life' (#497) producing new seasons on VH1?
Technically, 'The Surreal Life' was cancelled by The WB Network. VH1 bought it and is now running it. I'll delete the space in 'Hell' for it... "Studio 7" was placed on "hiatus" as a mid-season replacement, but has not yet resurfaced. Not a good sign.
I was wondering if you herd of the new station on Directv called TV 1 on channel 241 its a great station and i cant find a web site for them if you have one please send me a link , bye the way great web site.
"TV-1" is from "Radio-One", the largest owner of black targeted radio stations in the country. Chances are that if you live in a populated area, there is a "Urban", "Urban A.C.", or a similar formatted station owned by Radio-One in your area. They wanted to expand from just radio and start a cable network that is by and for African Americans. It is based in Washington DC (where "Radio-One" is) and is meant to compete with "B.E.T". TV-1 doesn't seem to have a web site up and running yet, but the parent company does. Here it is: http://www.radio-one.com/home.htm.
What about Tremors? The giant worms.
"Tremors" was cancelled from the Sci-Fi Network in August of 2003. Re-runs aired at off times for another couple of months after that.
The excellent show "The Shield" lasted only 1 season or 2 at most.
"The Sheild" isn't cancelled. It's just in it's "Sopranos" styled off-season. It will be back.

Both "Rodney" and "According to Jim" are scheduled to return, although both have slipped a bit in the ratings. They still should be strong enough fora return. "8 Simple Rules" is also returning. How bizarre is that one. usually when a star dies, so does the show (Phil Hartman on News Radio for example).
NBC's "Joey" is also returning. While it doesn't get "Friends" ratings, it still does pretty well. It is a slight disappointment for NBC vecause they expected huge ratings, but it is also somewhat of a success because it's in the top 20. I personally don't think that it's a very good show, but spinoffs rarely are.
