Donna learns the truth of David's summer when she gets Nicki Witt, who is a sophomore. Kelly changes her schedule to stay away from Dylan-who is bonding with Jim. Steve protects his dorky freshman pal named Herbert. The new faculty advisor, Gil Meyers dubs Brandon the editor of the paper, which enrages Andrea. Eventually, the three strike a deal.

Brenda tries to break her smoking habbit and does an interview with Top Story, which ends up exploiting her friends. Steve is tempted by a 'legacy key' which unlocks every door and filing cabinet in the school. David plans to graduate early with the rest of the gang.

While Brandon's love life is great, Brenda's isn't so hot, and when Jim and Cindy are short on cash, the two twins fight about who gets to go out of state. Kelly and Dylan bond, both disgusted of all the college talk. When Andrea wants to apply to Yale, Gil Meyers' disaproval stands in her way. Steve is caught by the greedy janitor breaking into the building at night and finds himself paying blackmail. Images of his step-sister in the shower derail David's relationship with Donna.

Steve gets David a gig, which attracts Sue as his groupie. Donna grows jealous. Kelly gets her hopes up when hearing her ebsentee father Bill will be dropping by, but ends up turning to Dylan.

Brandon takes dancing lessons from David when his relationship with Nicki is at stake. Dylan's 18th birthday approaches and his health prompts him to vote for a costal waters pollution issue.

Brenda's thoughts of being over Dylan vannish when she sees him with Kelly. Rick and Jim share similar interests, and Cindy grows jealous of Mr. Walsh's new young secretary.

Andrea looks at the legacy key case pessimistically and when David fires Steve as his manager, he confesses to Mrs. Teasley. Brandon grows jealous when Nicki encounters an abusive boyfriend who still has power over her, and this puts an end to their relationship.

Steve tells his mother of being expelled and she twists Mrs. Teasley's arm to let him off with eternal detention.

On Christmas, a couple of guardian angels watch over the gang. Donna is angry when her friends back out of a charity bus trip. Steve attends, although Mrs. Teasley refuses. Brandon and Andrea share an akward kiss. Brenda, Dylan, and Kelly's pact to stay friends is broken, and he is forced to make a decision between the two. David is depressed when his mother moves to Oregon and he decides to graduate early with everyone else.

Brenda and Kelly have a double date with two guys from Harvard and they end up being thirteen. David crams and lets Donna cover at the radio station. Dylan has a hard time deciding between two women.

Brenda is forced to deliver the news to Kelly that Mel had an affair and when her mother is notified, resisting cocaine becomes harder. Brandon begins gambling. Dylan is shocked to learn his father is being released from prison.

Dylan's father's release takes center stage and he is driven closer to Kelly when Jim's distrust of the McKays prompts him to keep Brenda at arms length. Brandon and Steve call upon Nat to hook them up with a bookie. After getting accepted to Yale, Andrea uses Donna's fashion sense to re-do her hair.

Under influence from his deceitful father, Dylan tricks Iris into transfering his trust out of Jim's control. Brenda's friendship with Kelly appears to be over. When Steve helps David get a gig, he ends up getting the short end of the stick. Brandon goes on a shopping spree. At a Yale convention, Andrea re-unites with Jordan Bonner from Shaw High School.

Brandon's gambling takes a turn for the worse. Cindy, Brenda, and Donna take a self defense class. Steve forgives David as he strikes a record deal. Andrea and Jordan get closer.

Donna retrieves Kelly's wallet from a mischievous classmate. Dylan stays behind to retake his SAT, Steve because of detention and Brandon to work. The three end up getting used by a conniving con artist with many aliases.
