[Narrator has a British accent. Everyone on-camera is young-ish North American. The scenes alternate between a loud, friendly party and documentary-style interviews (single-interviewee with plain backdrop, sometimes edited so demonstration overlaps speech from another part).]
[Party. White text over center says, "ANOTHER CAMERA PHONOMENON." A GUY is having fun with taking pictures, people are watching this and watching the pictures develop.]
NARRATOR
[off-screen] There's always pressure to perform in front of a Camera camera.
CAMERA GUY
[effusive] Come on. Do some'n' funny.
[The WOMAN he's talking to is by the snack bowl, looking up from politely munching. She's dismayed, unprepared.]
NARRATOR
[off-screen] But what really works?
COLLEGE GUY
[tentative] I uh, like to go with the thumbs-up. Doesn't come real
naturally, so I like to practice it before goin' to parties.
[There was a scene of him nervously practicing in the bathroom in front of a mirror, only wearing a towel, around his waist, doing thumbs-up, bending knees. White text over bottom of screen: "The Thumbs Up." Back to the party, he's apparently well-liked, people laughing.]
GUY
I believe in the Wacky face. I have a palette. I create art.
COLLEGE GUY
There's variations you can play with. I'll do the double. [demonstrating two
thumbs-up]
FUN WOMAN
I think the right Prop is critical. Most people eat with a
spoon. What's that. That's -- that's not comedy. [the last sentence is from
her deadpan demonstration of spoon on nose!]
[During part of that, scene at the party (in the kitchen): she's getting her picture taken hanging a spoon off her nose, nice grin. People are cracking up. Text on bottom of screen: "The Spoon."]
COLLEGE GUY
The sexy thumbs-up. [demonstrates]
GUY
People might not, see the Wacky Face
coming but, when it's there, boy are they glad.
[On black screen, white text in center of screen next to product logo says, "CAMERA." Under this is maroon text: "See what develops."]
[time 00:30]
How to hang a spoon: take a tablespoon, breathe onto the inside, and hang it off your nose.
