| Following graduation, I worked at Hannibal-Quincy Truck Lines for five years, then at the Farmers & Merchants Bank as a teller for five years. Married Wilbert Hunt on April 17, 1955. We opened a card and gift Shop in Hannibal, the "Treasure Isle" until Wilbert had an opportunity to work for Gibson Greeting Cards as a merchandising counselor. We moved to Chillicothe in 1966 where our three children grew up and attended school. Our first son, Robert William (Bob) was born in 1959. Our second son, Ronald Wayne (Ron) was born in 1961 and our daughter, Virginia Ruth (Ginny) was born in 1963.
After high school Bob attended college in Warrensburg. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he met his future wife, Lisa Rau, an account executive for Fieldcrest Linens. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended the University of Cincinnati. He was a Professional Telephone Services account executive when he died from a heart attack resulting from an injury playing football when be had his chest crushed and his heart bruised.
Our second son, Ron studied pipe organ at Lutheran College in Concordia, MO and attended college in Seward, Nebraska before coming to MU in Columbia where he became a veterinarian. He married Barbara Dittberner from Trenton. They moved to Minneapolis where she attended the University to become an anesthetist. After five years they were divorced. Ron worked for another veterinarian awhile then decided to go in business for himself. He and another veterinarian were partners awhile operating two clinics. They decided to part and each one took a clinic. As time went on Ron took the opportunity to buy a good piece of land on County Road 11 just off I 35, Exit 90. After a few years of waiting he started to build his dream, a 13,000 square feet, double level Hospital and Clinic with a Pet Store on the lower level and other businesses on the second level. In February 2002 be met the girl of his dreams, Beth Krueger, a Nurse Practitioner. They seemed to compliment each other and have been working together on the new building which will be finished by the first of June. They will be married August 16, 2003.
Our youngest, Ginny attended Concordia College and graduated from Concordia Lutheran College in Seward, Nebraska. She took a teaching position in Redding, CA where she taught until the school closed. After working for a doctor awhile she went into advertising and moved to Sacramento and is studying to become a nurse.
Wilbert worked for Gibson Greeting Cards until his retirement and then went into business for himself selling Alternative cards. I am working at a convenience store during the week. Following Wilbert's retirement from Gibson, we moved to Columbia where we still reside. We enjoy working in the Lutheran Laymen's League, of which Wilbert is the Missouri District President.
Sorry we won't be able to attend the class reunion in October as we are hosts in Columbia for tbe Missouri District Lutheran Laymen's League Convention that weekend.
Best wishes to all for a good reunion. |
