youth is so impatient! On Easter Sunday in 1948 I was married to Edward Fletcher of Hannibal. He was a handsome paratrooper just back from the war and looked like the most beautiful man I had ever seen in my short life. The marriage ended in divorce just a few years later. On August 23, 1949 I had given birth to a son whom we named Terry Fletcher. I worked for civil service for a little while and then became a Dental Nurse. This job was very interesting and rewarding, but no benefits. youth is so stupid! Why did I not stay with civil service and the wonderful retirement program that goes with it???? When you are that age, old age is completely unthinkable.
In 1966 I married a batchelor several years younger than me who was visiting his folks in Ilasco, MO. He was living in Chicago at the time..........guess I should tell you his name was Carl Zupan (pictured above), and after all these years, I still can't find anything wrong with him. age is so smart! We have had a very good marriage. He is a great companion and a good man.
We enjoy working in the yard, playing golf and traveling. Our son Terry is a Nuclear Engineer at the Calloway Plant. He has had a lot of tragedy in his life, but we are all coping. Our oldest grandson died this past year of cancer at the age of 16.......so sad. Our little one is 8 years old and the joy of our life. We have two step-grandaughters, both grown. We love good music, especially easy listening, light classical and the blues. September Song (playing now) and Kansas City are two of my favorites.. Life is still good. I try to remember to thank God everyday for all my blessings. May God Bless America and all of you.
