Was drafted in 1954 and spent 2 years at Fort Bliss, Texas in a Nike Missile Battery. Took a job at General Dynamics as Nuclear Physicist in 1956 and worked there for 15 years. Worked on shielding design for the nuclear-powered aircraft program (It was scrubbed in 1960). Participated in A-Bomb tests at Nevada Test Site in 1962 (Smallboy series). Did graduate work at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Moved back to Iowa in 1969 to work for US Army at the Rock Island Arsenal. Managed the Army radioactive waste disposal program. Spent 6 weeks in Saudi Arabia doing a mission for the Army. Enjoyed my first taste of camel pizza. Finally wound up as director of Radioactive Waste Disposal for the Department of Defense. Retired in 1994 and have loafed ever since except for a short stint as consultant for GPI in Phoenix, AZ

We moved to Goodyear Arizona (Phoenix) in July, 2004. Currently reside in an adult community there..

My favorite movie is Groundhog Day! I have 2 daughters, Patti and Becky, and 6 grandchildren. Past hobbies include woodworking, numismatics, bowling, rock collecting and fishing. (Is there anything else?) Yep! I now do computers, golf and travel, as well as grandchildren.
