Information on the re-created Company F

Company F of the 12th North Carolina State Troops was re-activated in 2002. Many of our members and our captain live only a few miles from the place where the original Company F was formed and raised. Our company is a member of the 5th Battalion, Army of Northern Virginia (ANV). We wear reproductions of the original uniforms of Company F, made by Ben Tart using the same techniques and machinery that made the original uniforms for many of the North Carolina troops. Our commissioned and non commissioned officers have over 25 years of combined re-enacting experience, some even serving on active duty in the current armed forces of the United States. We use Hardee's Infantry Tactics and welcome both campaign and garrison re-enactors. We only ask that you strive to give an accurate impression of a member of the 12th N.C.S.T. as possible. 19th Century Civilians and military re-enactors are welcome in the 12th. If you would you like more information or are interested in becoming a member of Company F, 12th N.C.S.T., please e-mail Captain Raymond Killeen at Captain12nc@yahoo.com or 1st Sergeant Kevin Kreiner at Adj2ndBnFCL@hotmail.com.

Members of Company F participated in the recent events surrounding the recovery of the H. L. Hunley, the world's first successful combat submarine. From the time of her raising, Company F's members stood honor guard for the remains of the crew, who were lost with the submarine, but recovered with her. After forensic and archeological testing on the remains of the crew, they were buried with full military honors in Charleston, South Carolina. Company F's members were the pall bearers for the remains of boatswains mate James Wicks, of North Carolina. It is an event and an honor that those of the company who participated in will not forget.
