Chien De Pique Spread

This spread requires you to choose a significator to represent the questioner, however, it is not removed from the deck.

After shuffling, you will turn up cards in pairs looking for the following cards:

(1) The significator which represents the questioner's circumstances
(2) The seven of the significator's suit which represents the questioner's thoughts
(3) The Jack of Spades which represents the questioner's fate
(4) The Ace of Hearts which represents the questioner's love and home life

When you come to one of the above cards, lay that card and its partner down.  Keep the cards in the order in which they appeared.  After you have found all four cards, reshuffle all of the remaining cards in your normal manner and lay out eight more cards.  The first card chosen will be laid to the left side of the first pair; the second card chosen will be laid to the right side of the pair, and so on until you have four cards in each row.  The total amount of cards you can have in this reading is 16, however, you may have less than that in the reading if your verification cards pair up together.

The cards in the same row as the significator indicate the circumstances surrounding the questioner; those in the same row as the Ace of Hearts describe the questioner's emotional state and home life; those in the same row as the seven indicate the questioner's thoughts; and those in the same row as the Jack of Spades indicate the questioner's destiny or outcome.  When interpreting, take note of the order in which the rows appear as this may suggest a cause-effect relationship between various areas of life.
