You Can't Go Home Again... Can you?

by JT

Yana emerged from the stepping disk. She was in a back alley surrounded by the filth and and stench of the dead. "What god-forsaken place has my stepping disks landed me in? This surely cannot be the home I saw in my dreams,"

"Kill him!" Yana's personal quandaries were interrupted by the shouts of an unknown threat as a body dressed in tattered blue rags flew past the opening of the alleyway. "That's it stranger - scream...for mercy!" Yana peeked out from her vantage point to see a man in green body armor standing over the man she saw fly past.

"Gentlemen, we're on a clock here! Just kill him!" the apparent leader of the group cried out as Yana prepared to jump to his aid.

"Not so fast," Yana looked towards the new voice.

"Step away from him , Unus -- now! So say the X-Men!" Yana observed the red armored leader and his eight teammates and realized everything would be alright.

As the battle raged on Yana was able to sneak out or her hiding spot. Despite fervant objection from the young woman inside her she summoned her Soulsword and with the Eldritch armor. Magik eyed her quary in the visage of the one called Unus, and lept into the air like a graceful swan. Unus has also snuck away from the battle to get the drop on Magneto. He had his thumb on the trigger of a gun aimed at Magneto's helmet. "You heard me. Call your X-Men - or be a martyr. I win either way,"

Magik came down in a swan dive her sword beared and ready. The mystical metal sliced through the gun like butter while Magik senched the landing, ready for a fight. "Ten points, loser!"

She replied with a witty remarked just in time to watch Unus freeze into a nice little statue. "Who are you child?" Magneto responded as Iceman appeared.

"The big man's got to find better enforcers," Iceman was also quick with a quip.

"I'm Il...Magik, and I don't belong here," Magik retorted after realizing she was definitely in the wrong dimension. "It's been fun!" The crackling energy swirled behind her as the stepping disk opened behind her.

"Hey, wait!?" Iceman shouted as Magik disappeared into the swirling pool of light. (Wow! That was fun, but it wasn't home. I got the feeling that place wasn't going to be around for much longer anyway,) as she floated through the glowing nothingness she reflected on her breif excursion.

"Hey, Blondey," S'ym was standing by the throne that seated the very regal looking Amanda Sefton as Ilyana flew from the steeping disk on to the cold stone floor.

"What is he doing here!?" Ilyana quickly shifted back into her armor. "I leave you in charge and you let the rifraff move in!"

"Calm yourself child," Amanda soothed as she stood up and walked over to the library. "I'm drawing an alliance with the demons and the goblins."

"Those hellish scum can't be trusted, Sefton!" Magik was still brandishing her Soulsword in S'ym face as Amanda levitated a spellbook towards her.

"'Controling the Dimensional Direction of Stepping Disks,' by Merlin," Ilyana read the cover of the worn spellbook and stated as she powered down, "How'd you know?"

"These holes come in handy fer watching stuff," S'ym replied, "like yer lil romp in the Age of Apocy," Ilyana's eyes began to glow as she downloaded AoA Ilyana's memories. "That was wierd!?"

"Cross that bridge when you come to it Ilyana, but for now continue the journey to the home you seek," Amanda deleivered those final words as Ilyana opened yet another stepping disk and dove in with the speellbook not aware of what earth she'd land on this time.
