Authors notes.:. I just wrote this on a whim. I was looking through my computer and realized I have let me think... I believe 5 multi parter fics in the works... and some more one parter fics that i need to finish and get out. I am looking forward to getting back into my writing. I'm Movin On...

Serena yawned tiredly as she made her way towards her car. It was late and she was just now leaving work. She had pulled an 11 hour shift that day trying to make deadline. She was now just looking forward to getting home where she could grab a bite to eat and a quick shower before hitting the sack. Even after a long day of work she was still picture perfect. Her long golden mane was normally worn loose and flowing to the middle of her back, but tonight was piled high on her head out of her way, and her reading glasses were perced on top of her head as well. She carried her breifcase and her jacket loosely over one arm. As she reached her car she unlocked the door tossing her things on to her passanger seat before crawling in. Sighing softly she started her car, she was about to leave when a song came over the air waves that made her freeze and stare blankly out the window. As she listened to the lyrics she started screaming mixed with tears as she beat her steering wheel as if it would make all her pain go away. " I.. I moved on...I said I was sorry, I did everything I could do. I.. I didn't mean to.. I.. Why.. WILL I EVER BE FORGIVEN ?" With that Serena grabbed her purse and keys before leaving her car in the parking lot and heading out into the crowds where maybe she could forget....just forget all that had happened so long ago when she decided to give her heart to someone who never really cared much less gave his in return.

Darien walked silently through the streets whistling a soft tune to himself while watching all the people finish up with their holiday shopping. There was only 10 days left till christmas and everyone seemed to be saving their shopping for the last minute. Darien on the other hand had finished his shopping a good 6 months ago. He laughed to himself as he watched everyone hustle around with gifts and other articles of importance. He was about to turn around and head back towards the mall when he caught sight of a young blond women heading into the Starbucks on the corner. Never one to really approach a stranger something urged Darien forward towards the coffee shop. Upon entering the shop the young female was no where in sight. Shaking his head slowly wondering where she could have gone. Figuring his mind was playing tricks on him he turned towards the door ready to leave.

Serena walked into the coffee shop wiping her eyes ever so gently. She was so certain that his ghost had finally left her alone, but after the phone call today from her mother demanding that she come home for christmas had started her on a downward spiral, hearing that song on the radio was her undoing. She hated the thought of going back home knowing that ' he ' would be there with his new wife and child. The one that he had left her for. She quickly made her way to the bathroom where she proceeded to lock herself in there trying to calm herself down. Splashing some water on her face she looked up in the mirror shaking her head slowly.

" I don't get it. What did I ever do to deserve this torture? Why must my mother insist on him being close to us. He is the one that left me.... " Sinking slowly towards the floor she started to cry once more. This was just all to unfair for her, and her own mother was just pouring salt in the wound. Sure it had been over a year but still in Serenas eyes that was one year that she wished never existed.

After all the the things that had happened to her she had to go away. Far far away to escape him and his new girl, and her own family. They had loved Andrew, and even after he left Serena for someone else they all seemed ok with it as long as he was still around. Serena never understood what was wrong with her family, but she decided that leaving would be best. Her mother on the other hand was against it, but once Serena had the approval of her father she was gone.

Darien was about to walk out of the door when he heard the girl behind the counter talking to her coworker about the young woman that had just walked into the restroom. Going against everything that he believed in Darien perched himself at the counter and waited. He figured that since this was so new to him and he had never done this before there was no point in turning around now. He might as well just sit and wait and see it through. Deep down though there was more to it. Something wouldn't allow him to leave even if he tried. He just had to meet this young alluring female who seemed to capture his heart from so far away.

" Excuse me miss. How long ago did that woman head into the restroom? "

" Oh you mean the young blonde that just walked in a few mins ago sir? " The young girl replied.

Darien just nodded his head smiling softly.

" I.. I honestly do not know sir, Are you a friend of hers, cause it seems she is crying in there. Well at least that is what it sounded like when I was walking past there. "

Darien smiled and said a quiet thank you as his mind wondered with the thought of what would have such an angelic being as herself crying in a restroom on such a romantic evening. Pulling himself up he wakled towards the back of the cafe when the restroom door opened.

Serena quickly came to her senses and realized her surroundings. She stood up and washed her face once more, telling herself that one day her prince would come for her," Why am I crying? One day Andrew will wake up and see what he has lost and I will be fine. I deserve better and he isn't worth my tears." Laughing to herself softly she walked out of the door and came face to face with one Darien Lawrence. Serena gasped softly as she ran into him before stuttering a soft apology. She was about to walk around him when he chuckled softly smiling down at her.

" No need to be so shy ma'am, I was just coming over to check up on you. It seems you had everyone in here worried about you. I included. "

Serena stared blankly at the young man before her, she was at a loss of words.

Taking a step back Serena glanced at the person before her and found herself smiling back at him. He seemed to be a nice guy from outer appearance, but Andrew seemed that way as well. She noticed how he was a well dressed young man meaning he must have been some sort of buissness man, yet she could tell that he was athletic with the tone and shape of his body through his clothes. She then noticed his jet black hair and how a few strands had fallen in his eyes. She was tempted to brush them aside and out of his eyes, but found that she couldn't move for she was staring into the deepest cobalt blue eyes she had ever seen.

" My name is Darien, Darien Lawrence. and you would be...? "

He left the question hanging there just begging to be answered. Shaking her head slowly Serena side stepped him and started walking towards the door. Serena started to panic on the inside needing some way out, she just had to get out of there.

" I'm sorry, but.. I .. I have to go. "

She was about to walk out when something made her stop and turn around. She turned slowly around and stared straight into his eyes. Everything seemed to just stop around her and she couldn't seem to make herself turn away.

' Come on Serena right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. Come on feet move. Your not moving, Serena stop looking at him, he is just like Andrew they are all like Andrew.' Taking a few breaths she calmed down slightly and finally gave into some force stronger than her own will. ' Then again there are always exceptions. Look at him. Really look at him.'

She saw something in his eyes that she had never seen in any other man she had ever come into contact with. Still not wanting to get her hopes up that there could possibly be a nice guy out there she smiled softly thinking quickly. ' Well we can see how different he is!' If he wants to know my name he will accept a challenge.' With that she thought up a riddle for a test of how badly he wanted to know her name.

" Thank you so much for your concern but really, I must be going, but the sunset is always prettier when wittnessed from an empire in the eyes of Saturn. "

With that Serena turned and headed out the door. She smiled to herself as she reached her car wondering if he would figure out that she was going to be at the Empire State Building Saturday evening. Climbing inside her car once more she laughed softly to herself as she headed home.

Darien stared at the spot where she had once stood trying to figure out what she was saying to him. When he turned to look at the girl behind the counter she had a blank stare on her face as well. He shook his head slightly and was about to leave when her coworker came out.

" You know that is actually a tough one to figure out. "

Darien turned to look at the guy with a questioning look on his face.

" It's simple man, she gave you a riddle and now you have to figure out what it means. I will almost gurantee that if you figure out that clue you will see her again. "

Darien smirked as he grabbed a napkin and jotted down the riddle. * The sunset is always prettier when wittnessed from an empire in the eyes of Saturn.* Shaking his head slowly he glanced back at the people behind the counter.

" What in gods name is she talking about.. The sunset is always prettier when wittnessed from an empire in the eyes of Saturn.? That makes no sense to me at all. "

The girl seemed to snap out her trance before laughing. " Ohmigosh that is so simple. She is talking about Saturday night, well watching the sunset on Saturday night, but the rest I don't know. "

Darien nodded his head slowly, " Yeah you're right Saturday and Saturn.. but what is she talking about with an empire ? "

The young guy snapped his fingers and laughed. " I got it. The sunset will be a wonderful sight Saturday night from the top of the Empire State Building. "

Darien and the young girl both gasped as the guy finished his thought. " Your right that is what she was saying. Thank you both for your help. "

With that Darien ran out of the door.

The next day Serena woke up late in the afternoon. She had stayed up late going over everything in her head trying to figure out a way to keep from going home in 8 days. She made herself a late lunch and relaxed in front of the television before getting up and taking a hot shower. As she stepped out of the shower she glanced out her window and noticed the sun was low in the sky. The sun would be setting in about an hour. She paid no heed to it as she dressed and walked out of her bedroom. She noticed the light on her phone flashing meaning someone must've called while she was showering. Hoping it was Rei or Mina she rushed to the phone to check her messages. Her happyness was killed quickly when she heard her mothers voice on the other end of the line.

" Serena you better be here on the 23rd or your father and I are never going to forgive you. Andrew and his wife are dying to see you. Your brother and his wife want to see you aswell. I don't care how you do it or what you do just do it and be here. I will talk more later sweetie. And we love you. Take care in the city. "

With that Serena erased the message and slumped down on her sofa shaking her head sadly. All she wanted to do was curl up in a ball and go back to sleep when something hit her like lightning out of a clear blue sky.

' Darien Lawrence. '

Sitting up quickly and looking outside she realized she had about 20 mins to go before the sun sat. Jumping up she grabbed her purse, jacket, and keys and ran out her door. ' I hope I'm not late. Then again why do I care, and why am I doing this? ' Before she could think twice about it she was already in her car and pulling out of the garage.

Pacing back and forth Darien sighed softly to himself checking his watch one more time. He had been here since 5:30 and didn't see one sign of her. Here it was 7:10 and she was no where in site and sun had pretty much sat. He looked up and noticed that it was starting to snow. He turned around and gave the great city of New York one last glance thinking about how much he wished he had someone special to spend the holidays and more with, but that wasn't going to happen he felt. Shaking his head once more he turned to leave. He waitied patiently for the elevator doors to open. Once the doors opened he boarded closing his eyes tightly and rested his head against the wall drifting off in thought.

Serena was ecstatic to exit the elevator but was quickly dissapointed to find that he was no where in sight when she stepped off. She checked all around the upper deck wandering why she even bothered to come. ( And I have no idea what its like on the top of the Empire States building so I am just winging it so bare with me e_e;;) " Why? Why did I even come myself. I was better off just staying at home, Then again why do I care if I see him again?"

Serena stood there looking out over the city when she caught sight of a jacket laying on the railing next to her. Glancing around and finding no one she shook her head before turning away with tears in her eyes.

" You are so stupid Serena for hoping...wishing..." She almost screamed when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning around quickly she came face to face with the same cobalt blue eyes that she had seen the night before. " So Serena is it? Your late. "

Serena stood open mouthed staring at the young man standing in front of her with a slight smile on his face. " I.. I am sorry I was just.. well my mother called, and I.. well honeslty I forgot. " Looking down feeling ashamed of herself she mumbled softly almost incoherently. " I am sorry for making you wait. " Darien laughed softly as he lightly raised her chin up so he could look at her eye to eye.

" It's ok really, I .. well I am ashamed to say this, but I left. I only came back up here because I had left my jacket. I really didn't think you would show up. Yeah I gave up. " Now it was his turn to feel ashamed, and waited for her to say something. He was amazed to see her smile up at him. " It's ok Darien, I guess it was meant for us to meet back up here again, eh? " Nodding his head slightly he grabbed his jacket and offered her his arm. " Shall we? "

Blinking a couple of times Serena gave in and took his arm with her own. " Where to? " Thinking quickly she smiled up at him, " How about the Starbucks we met at? "

Chuckling softly Darien led her out of the elevator. " Well I brought a cab here tonight, how about you? " " I brought my own car, you can always ride with me. " Nodding his approval they started walking towards her car when he stopped causing her to stop with him. " Listen Serena I don't normally do this, and well I don't know if you really feel comfortable letting a stranger in your car that you had just met the day before. " Serena looked at him dumbfounded but found it incredibly sweet that he thought of her like that, " Listen if it makes you feel better I don't normally do this either. In fact this is the first time I have ever done this. I.. well I'm not worried in the slightest I know I should be but I'm not. "

Smiling up at him she pulled on his arm lightly, he chuckled softly at her before continuing on. " As long as you are certain that it's ok with you. " Serena only nodded her head as they reached her car, " Anyways how do you know it's not YOU that should be worried? " Serena asked playfully, Darien acting as if he was terrified of her just brought his hand to his head in an overdramatic action, " Oh woe is me, I will be at the mercy of a beautiful young women, whatever will I do? "

Serena raised a brow at Darien causing him to laugh which in turn made Serena giggle, something she had not truly done in a very long time.

Turning off her alarm Serena unlocked her doors and climbed in with Darien climbing in the passenger side. They talked about many things on the drive to the Starbucks. They laughed at jokes and talked about music and friends and other interests they had. They arrived at the coffee shop about 8:30. They walked in together and noticed the same two workers from the night before.

" So I see the riddle was right after all eh? " The young man asked as they stood at the counter to order. " Yeah I think it's cute really, and terribly romantic. " The girl chided in as she made their requests. Darien and Serena laughed at the two as they walked to table in the back corner.

As time passed Serena and Darien both shared with one another basically their whole life stories. Darien telling of his family and how he had grown up on the west coast in Seattle, Wa. and moved to New York after graduation. He was an only child and his parents had both died in a horrible car accident a year after he moved. Serena listened intently feeling a strong want to reach out and hold him but kept herself from doing so. When he was threw it was her turn to tell him about Andrew and his wife and how her family was torturing her by inviting him to all the major family functions and what not. Darien listened and felt such sorrow for her as he listened. She evidentally had loved Andrew very much, but he had hurt her so seriously that he wasn't sure if she would ever love again. Feeling a bit saddened by that thought he decided that he would stop at nothing to prove to her that not everyone was like Andrew. He was going to show her what it's like to love a person and not have to worry.

" If I could Rena I would go with you to your familes Christmas just to give you moral support. " Smiling to herself Serena wished she had met him earlier, she wish it was him she had given her heart to so long ago instead of Andrew.

* I’m movin’ on At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me *

They talked for hours and drank tons of coffee as they converesed. Serena was enjoying his company when a soft yawn escaped her sweet lips. Glancing at her watch she was surprised to see that it was already 1:00 am and they had been talking for about 5 hrs. Shaking her head slightly Darien then glanced at his watch. " Listen Rena you need your rest. Is it a long drive to your apartment? " Serena stifled another yawn as she shook her head. " No not that far maybe a 10 min drive. " Darien shook his head slightly as he took out a piece of paper and jotted down his number onto it. " Listen I will catch a cab it is about a half hours drive to my place and I don't want you to be driving when you are so tired." Serena just nodded her head as she stood up grabbing her purse and jacket. She smiled softly at him as he handed her the piece of paper. She thought quickly before reaching into her purse and pulling out a tablet and pen of her own. Jotting down her number quickly she handed it to him. They walked out and found that it had snowed pretty good amount. Serena took a deep breath of air and smiled softly at him as he flagged down a cab. He was about to climb inside when Serena called out to him. " Hey Dare, I'll call you tomorrow, and who knows what will happen this holiday season." With that she turned and headed towards her car. Darien just nodded with a warm smile on his face as he watched her climb in her car and drive off.

Serena was lost in thought as she headed home. The roads were just a little more icy than she had thought. She approached the intersection and came to a stop. As the light turned green she let off the brake and started across when she turned her head to the left and saw the headlights coming at her. She barely had enough time to scream before the vehicle hit her and everything went black.

Two days had passed and Darien hadn't heard anything from Serena. So he decided to call her. The phone rang and rang when finally her call notes answered. " Hey Rena this is Dare, I was just wondering if everything was allright cause I hadn't heard from you. I hope you are doing well. A day later he called again and this time someone answered but the voice he heard he never expected. A mans voice.

" Hello is Serena there? "

" No she isn't, may I take a mesage?" The mystery voice said through the lines.

Darien was about to hang up, but swallowed pride and left his name. " No that is ok just let her know that Darien called. " He was about to hang up when the man soke softly.

" Darien...Darien Lawrence? "

Darien was hesitant to speak but somehow found his voice. " Yes, That is my name sir."

" Well hello Darien, my name is David. David Carmichael. I am Serenas father. Serena was in a serious car accident Saturday night and has been in the hospital. I found your name and number in her jacket but was hesitant to call. "

The world seemed to stop for him as he somehow managed to speak. " Mr. Carmichael could you please tell me what hospital she is at I would like to go see her. "

" Sure thing Darien. "

After Darien had gotten all the information he hung up and slid to the floor with his head in his hands. Here he had met a wonderful , sweet perfect human being a person he could give his heart to completely and now this happened. He was overcome with memories of his parents and found himself needing to get out of his apartment and to the hospital.

Darien arrived at the hospital about an hour later. He stopped to pick her up some roses then was soon back on the road again. He felt a tremendous amount of dread overcome him as he made his way into the hospital. He walked towards the elevator and stood there with a somber look on his face when two girls come towards him talking and crying. He tried his best to block them out but it was really hard when they all boarded the elevator together heading towards the same floor. " Mina did they tell you anything else? " A raven haired young woman asked her slendor blond compainion. " No Rei all they said is that she is coming around but still sorta out of it. Her mom said something about Andrew coming here to see her, but I don't think that is a good idea. It will just make things worse for her you know. " Rei nodded her head sadly as they both fell silent. Darien just kind of stood back thinking to himself. ' Andrew, could they be speaking of Serena? ' Shaking his head he just waited for the elevator to open so he could see her and make sure she was ok.

Once the doors opened he walked out followed by the two girls, he stopped off at the nurses station to check on the room number before proceeding. He noticed that the two girls had gone off in the same direction as he was headed in.

" Rei did you see that guy? He was hot! " Mina asked excitedly. " I wish I had someone like that coming to visit me."

" MINA This is not the time to be drooling over some hot guy we are here to check on Serena. " Rei said as she turned back to glance at Darien on last time before turning into Serenas room.

Darien made his way slowly down the hallway before coming to the room that she was in. Taking a deep breath he entered hearing voices. Slowly he walked past the curtain and came face to face with the girls from the elevator and off to the side a young man stood with blond hair next to two girls. One that had medium brown hair pulled back into a pony tail and another one with short bluish black hair. There was also an older man standing near the wall with his arm around a woman whom seem to have been crying. Feeling out of place he wanted to turn and leave when the man spoke softly to him.

" Darien I presume? I am David Carmichael, Serenas father." Extending his hand out.

Darien nodded slowly taking his hand in a firm handshake.

" This is my wife Miranda Serena's mother. And that is Andrew a family friend, Amy, Lita, Mina and Rei, Serenas life long friends."

Darien felt this rage build up inside of him at the mention of Andrews name, but instead of saying anything he said a soft hello. He was about to say something when Serena started to come around.

Feeling a little groggy Serena looked around the room. She noticed her parents and her friends, then she saw Andrew. She wanted to scream but then her gaze fell upon Darien and all her anger left her. She reached her hand out towards him and a few tears fell from her eyes as he rushed to her side taking her hand in his.

" I.. I'm sorry I .. didn't call you. " She said in a soft voice.

Chuckling softly he smiled down at her as he brushed some of her hair from her eyes. " It's ok Rena, I called you and left a msg. I didn't know what happened, but when I called back your father answered and told me what happened, and I rushed here as soon as I could."

Serena smiled at him as she closed her eyes. " I.. Thank you for coming Dare, thank you for caring. " With that she seem to dose off again. Darien sat there for sometime before Rei lightly touched his shoulder. " Excuse me Darien can I speak with you out in the hall? " Darien nodded as he stood up and bent down placing a soft kiss on Serenas forehead before following Rei outside the room. As they were leaving he head Andrew ask Serenas father who he was. Darien laughed to himself and walked out to where Rei was at with the other girls.

" So Darien who are you and how do you know Serena? "

Darien took a deep breath and went into the story of how they had met and what all had happened. When he was done he had five girls standing there with tears in their eyes looking at him. " Well after all the stuff she went through with Andrew it is nice to see her finally meet someone. I just hope you don't do to her what he did or we will be forced to hurt you. "Lita piped in. They were all laughing and talking when Andrew walked into the hallway to let them know that Serena was awake and asking for Darien. The girls all turned to go into the room when Andrew asked Darien to stay behind for a moment.

" Listen I am sure that Serena told you what had happened, but I swear I never meant to hurt her. We were best friends our whole life. I loved her in more ways that you can imagine. I didn't want to lose her but something was missing. I don't expect you to like me, but just know that I would do anything to keep her safe, I just couldn't love her the way she deserves. " With that Andrew turned to go back into the room leaving Darien there to think it all over. Shaking his head he walked back into the room with a warm smile on his face as he approaced Serenas bed.

" Listen sweetie your mom and I and the others are going to head to the cafeteria to grab bite to eat this way you two can talk. " Her father spoke softly as he placed a tender kiss upon her cheek before pushing everyone out of the room ahead of him. Serena laughed softly turning her head to look out the window at the snow falling sighing softly.

" You know I wanted an excuse to not go home, and it seems that I got my wish, Then again I don't recall asking it to be as painful. " Turning her attention towards Darien she blushed when she caught him watching her intently.

" What is it Dare? "

Shaking his head slowly as he gently grasped her hand. " Listen Rena, I...I just I don't know really what to say. I was so worried when I didn't hear from you. I was afraid that I had said or done something wrong the other night. " Taking a deep breath he looked outside the window as he continued speaking. " I have never felt the connection with anyone that I feel with you. Ever since the first time I saw you there was something deep inside of me telling me not to let you go. It's like I had to know you, I had to have you in my life. I.. I have fallen in love with you Rena, and even though it has all happened so fast and it's so unorthodox for me, it feels so right. I have never been more sure of anything in my life. "

Serena blinked a few times taking in the information he had just shared with her. She was overwhelmed at his confession, yet was overcome with complete joy from hearing him open himself up to her. She gently tugged on his hand to get his attention. When he turned back to her their eyes met and so many unspoken words were said with that one look. Crying softly Serena smiled through her tears speaking softly,

" I thought I was just imaging. I felt the same connection with you Darien, yet I was afraid to let anyone in. I wanted to run from you the night I met you, but something wouldn't let me. I.. I had to know you to. I wanted to know you, to be needed by you. To be loved by you. " Darien smiled at her before bending down kissing her softly. It was a soft kiss, yet millions of things were said in that one kiss. Pulling back slowly he gently brushed some strands of hair out of her eyes as he rested his forehed against hers. " I love you Serena, and I will be by your side forever if that is what you want. " Serena said nothing she just smiled and held his hand tighter within hers as she giggled softly. " I just may hold you to that one Dare. " With that said the two just sat there in the room no words being spoken as they gazed intently upon one another. Serena finally knew she had found the one person in the world that was meant for her, and her meant for him.

* And I know there’s no guarentee’s, but I’m not alone

~ One Year Later ~

The vows were said, the dancing was done, the celebration was over, but a new life was starting.

" I love you Mrs. Lawrence. "

" I love you more Mr. Lawrence. "

In an empty house on the outskirts of Seattle a couple held one another tightly as they watched the snow falling in the backyard of their new home.

* I sold what I could and packed what I couldn’t

Stopped to fill up on my way out of town

I had to lose everything to find out

Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road

" Rena sweetie are you sure you want to live here? " Leaning her head against his chest a small smile crept over her pouty lips as she spoke softly. " Yes Dare, the movers will be here tomorrow, and my parents will be here first thing in the morning. The girls and Andrew and Caroline will be here tomorrow with my brother and Allison. They were all so nice to agree to help us. And to answer your question. Yes I want to live here. I would live anywhere with you.

Well there you have it.... That is my newest fic. If you don't like the ending let me know. I kinda had another idea for the ending but this one just seemed nice.
