CELTA
...for better or worse?
As painful and excruiating as my time at Akcent International House Prague was, it was nothing if not a quality education in pretty much all regards.  I can't really complain about much, and I have no intention of doing so here.  The teachers definitely knew their stuff and tried so hard to drum as much of it into our heads as they possibly could in a month, god bless 'em.
But the best part, the part I'll always carry with me, was sweating it out (literally) with the 10 other people on my course, who came from all corners of the globe and who were all just so damn cool.  I'm a sucker for accents, in general, so it was like heaven to be surrounded by so many different ones:  English, Scottish, Australian, Slovakian, Czech, Norwegian...and on and on.  Never has an Iowa girl heard so much variety!
At any rate, CELTA (Certificate for English Language Teaching to Adults) was like bootcamp-as promised-but it was a worthwhile experience that definitely had its fun moments.  And, honestly, what more can you ask for?
Well, that's a slightly misleading title, I must admit.
