and Bluey says....

Welcome to Serenna's Vidhyalayam. For those of you who don't know what "Vidhyalayam" means, it is a Telugu word that means a place of learning or as we call it School :) . So as you might have guessed already (or maybe not) this website is made for the sole purpose of teaching basic Telugu words/ language to those interested in learning Telugu.

What is Telugu?
Telugu is a language spoken primarily in southern part of India in the state of Andhra Pradesh and is part of the one of the 22 official languages of India. Second most widely spoken language after the Indian national language Hindi. If you want to know more about that language, try google-ing it! :)

So why make this website?
To cut to the chase...I'm stuck in between trying to teach my grandmother English and one of my friends Telugu...so through this website I hope to accomplish at least one of these tasks.  Second reason for this website is the lack of any other free sources on the web for those who are interested in learning Telugu.

What makes me qualified to make this website?
Well, nothing other that the fact that I speak it at home with my family and relatives. I ordered a book on how to learn Telugu and was disappointed to see how inapplicable it was to the spoken language. Although, it is true to the "true Telugu" language...it wouldn't be helpful to someone who wants to learn to speak the everyday spoken language. So here is my attempt at teaching YOU few things to make it easier to learn the spoken Telugu and for FREE of charge.

For those of you that do speak Telugu, I hope this will be somewhat of a collaborative effort as I am not an "expert" so any suggestions on content and error correction on your part will be considered a HUGE help! Also I hope you take the time to sign my guestbook and use the forum as a place for discussion about the content.

I would love to hear some feedback on the website.
