The Ballad of Pat Kay
Written by Herald Booker 1/5/06

When first I came to Dyersburg
Twas my fortune there to find
I met a fair young maiden there
her beauty filled my mind
Her rosy cheeks, her ruby lips
They gave my heart no rest
The name she bore was Patricia,
The lily of the west...(West Tennessee)

I courted lovely Patricia
We were very much in love
Then Herald's health went bad
It was Pat he was thinking of
Although he had to leave that day
Like arrows pierced his chest
Still he love his girl Patricia
The lily of the west

He went ot Chattanooga,
The trip was silent, no sound
They ran all kinds of tests on him
The bad news they have found
He need an operation...
He told them to proceed
Still he loves his girl Patricia
The lily of the west

They placed him in the hospital
He waited so he could see
They placed me in the hospital garb
And then commenced on me
He felt his life just slippin away
He knew it was his final rest
Still he loves his lovely Patricia
The lily of the West

This Ballad was a precious gift from Herald. It will always be treasured...Pat
