Introduction:
Welcome to my website. This site is devoted to my favorite hobby, reef aquarium. I have always been fascinated with keeping tropical fishes. It started when I was about 11 years old with a pair of Siamese fighting fish. I bred them in a ceramic vase and successfully raised the babies. I later progressed to keeping Discus then fresh water plant aquascaping. I first became interested in keeping saltwater aquarium in 1996, and bought a few books from such authors: Moe, Emmens, Dakin. However, I did not become serious about the hobby until mid 1998, a few months after I signed up for my first Internet provider. After a few months of research on the net, I decided to make a big plunge on 10/98. My first tank was set up based on the Jaubert's plenum principle. Most the ideas came from Jeff Pfohl's website. I soon ran out of room in my first tank (as most, if not all, reef keeper eventually will experience) so I convinced my wonderful wife to get me another tank for my '98 Christmas present. However, I did not receive the tank until 4/99. I am currently working on my wife for a yet bigger tank :-).
My advice for newcomer to this hobby are as follow: read as much as possible, research the net, read the message boards and make the plunge. There are several message boards on the net which are devoted to reef keepinng, but the ones I frequent the most are Aqualink, Reefs.org, Reef Central and Premium Aquatics. While checking out these message boards, one should consider the source of information and take everything with a big grain of salt...don't follow blindly. There are more than one way to skin a cat in reef keeping. Lastly, don't take everything too seriously so you'll have more time to enjoy this wonderful and addicting hobby.
