This tank was originally set up as a plenum to minimize maintenance. Top off water is done manually every other day using RO/DI water. SeaChem Reef Builder and Reef Advantage is added occasionally with top off water. The pH is usually measured from 8.2-8.4 with a PinPoint pH meter. Nitrate is undetectable using a FastTest kit. Alkalinity is usually between 7-8 dKh with a SeaChem kit. Calcium is usually around 400's with a Salifert kit. A thin film of algae is cleaned off the front surface using a Tunze magnet once or twice a week. Coralline algae is cleaned of the front surface maybe once a month.
Water change is done infrequently, maybe 15% every 3-4 months.
ETSS RDII skimmer is cleaned every 2 weeks.
Activated carbon bag is rinsed every month and replaced with new carbon every two months.
Sponge filter is cleaned once a month.
The tank is fed once a day with Ocean Nutrition Formula 1&2, Brine shrimp Plus or PrimeReef Plus flakes.
