Pictures by Eric A. Dunlap / September 18, 2001Please feel free to distribute these images as you see fit. I have placed them in the public domain.![]() For some perspective, here is what the same views below used to look like. ![]() The Exchange Place PATH Station stands in silence. This terminal was the main access point for probably the majority of the commuters bound for downtown Manhattan. The PATH trains used to run under the Hudson over to the WTC. I can't help but wonder what they're going to do with it. ![]() ![]() Downtown Jersey City looks like a military zone. The police are in force down there. I wasn't sure where to walk and when I entered the area (center of the image) a cop grabbed my arm and said "No.". These pictures were taken from Jersey City at Exchange Place ![]() ![]() ![]() Every morning I'd see the Manhattan skyline on my way in. Growing up down south, it always amazed me that human beings could build such structures. But now it seems empty. Pictures taken from the top of a NY Waterway ferry ![]() ![]() The New York Waterway, a ferry service between Jersey and Manhattan, is going full tilt to keep up with the commuters . ![]() My escape that day was provided by the Statin Island ferry. I've never had a reason to take it before. I was getting on just as the first trade center came down. The ferry was totally shouded in dust and smoke. It took us 10 minutes to get out of the cloud. Pretty scary. Wall Street - Downtown Manhattan View is east looking toward Broadway ![]() ![]() Walking up Wall Street can be a trying experience. There are cops on every corner. There are military personnel everywhere and they restrict access as much as they can. Further up past the NYSE ![]() Once you get through the baracades, you get a clear view of Broadway. You'll notice that it's completely blocked off. ![]() The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has this huge flag hanging. It's great. When you stand under it, you can't help but lose yourself in thought. More to come... Thank you for your time. EAD |
