I have no idea when, where or why it started. OK, so I lie, have a rough idea when it started, 3:15.25 pm on Tuesday 29 June. Where? Well, actually it wasn’t anywhere in particular. It happened everywhere, and with such great gusto it transcended both time and space. Why is the one thing I have yet to understand. Maybe time got unbearably claustrophobic in the spiral it had created for itself that it had to break free no matter what the cost. Quantum physics could well have called it a day, presumably bored with the same old thing, day in, day out since the beginning of time. The powers that be could have finally given up the ghost on this illogical, irrational reality we have honed for ourselves and decided to invest their time into a more sane alternate reality where flying pigs have pride of place. Or alternatively, and this is because of the time it happened, the great cosmic school was let out and our reality is busy playing truant. Not surprising really when you think of what we made it out to be.

Whatever the case, I am now rambling so I must concentrate on the task at hand. The real question is why me? There was no-one else, not that I either saw or know of since. Why single me out? Why must I be the one who had to set time straight? Oh, sorry, I haven’t yet told you about what happened. No, I should have remembered that you could have no memory of the day that time stood still. No, wait, time did more than stand still. You may think I have lost it, but that should be expected. It is not everyday that history ceases to be, the past is no longer. Not that it is erased, but ceases. Not following me? Well, think of it this way, because it is the easiest way to explain this strange occurrence. We have a past, present and a future, right? Well say there was no past, only present and future? Strange, you may say, no past so no memories of what we have done. Yet that is not the case, because the past is not eliminated or erased, we know what we did, only it no longer becomes past, it stays in the present. Everything that did exist does exist until it will exist no more, then it will re-exist from scratch. Follow? No, I didn’t think so. Well, on this day that time stood still, the Roman Empire, The British Empire and the Dodo bird all coexisted at the same time. How can I be so sure of the time? My watch stopped. In face every timekeeping device was frozen. Including sundials and hourglasses and clock candles. To these even the fundamentals natural laws like gravity held no sway.

So still you ask why? Well, I will get to that… maybe I should give up now and just start at the beginnig. Yes, the beginning is always a good place to start.
