Review

I'm going to review Nirvana's Nevermind in hope that more people will "open their eyes"and see what too many people are missing out on. This album changed music whether you like them or not. The thing to remember most is to keep an open mind when you listen. This record changed the face of music. Pre-90's rock bands were filled with long hair, makeup, and colorful clothes. In my opinion, that sucked, and apparently by 1992 lots of people were feeling that way.

All music at that time was "record company produced" stuff that sold, nothing unique. Pop ruled all music (like today), the top 10 had no rock bands. Times were changing and so was music. Without "Nevermind" the good music today wouldn't be angry or loud and rock bands wouldn't be able to have a melody. And for better or worse simply made songs. With one blood curdling scream Kurt Cobain changed music forever. You will not find an 8 minute song of guitar solos or themes of love. You will however find 3 to 5 minute of cruddy guitar playing, simple songs and appropriate screaming.

What makes this CD better than the average rock CD is that the songs have a melody or a "hook". That means you'll be humming these songs at the worst moments. What makes this CD so listenable is it's clear sound that even the band hated. Without it though it wouldn't have sold 10 million copies. Don't expect to buy this for 1 song, every song is brilliant unlike todays music. You do get your moneys worth with this CD. If you didn't know, Kurt Cobain (guitar, vocals), Krist Novoselic (bass), and Dave Grohl (drums) make up Nirvana. Kurt may sing so you can't understand his lyrics but he always gets his point across. This is a CD that I can really appreciate all the instruments. The drums hit hard and the bass fits in perfectly.

If your a troubled teen ,this album is for you, considering how troubled Kurt Cobain was. His feelings of alienation, frustration, and anger fit perfectly with mine. This is why the band is the greatest. If you want a summarization of the CD here goes...all songs follow verse, chorus, verse format (if you don't know what this is you will find out). Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom and Lithium follow this format exactly while Come As You Are, Breed, Territorial Pissings, Drain You, Stay Away, On a Plain, and Lounge Act follow the format in a regular way. The two acoustic songs are Polly and Something In The Way.

I think you know by now why this band is so good and if you want a grade on the CD here
