Earth Changing Page

This page contains MOST the information on of the the ways that the earth changes.

Here are some ways the earth changes.

Erosion- is the movement of a rock material from  a single place to another.

Weathering- is the the breakdown of rock into smaller pieces.

Glaciers- are huge sculptures of ice formed by weathering/frozen water.

Deposition- the dropping of sediments to another location.

Volcano-  an opening or mountain in the earth's surface that is created by lava and ash.

Earthquake-when the earth shakes due to a release of energy in the crust layer of the earth.

Weathering is a way that the earth may change.   Most of the landforms on the earth are the result of  weathering.

Erosion is the carrying of rocks from place to another. This happens when weathering occurs. The agents of erosion are water, wind, waves, and glaciers. Water can cause erosion by raindrop impacts that the particles soil to be lifted ,and move a few millimeters. Erosion can also be caused by thin sheets of moving water downhill dragging clay and sand. Wind can cause waves in the ocean or large bodies of water. The pressure can make the waves build. Waves can cause the beach dock flood or wash away the shore.

        Cliff erosion

If you go on a trip with your family and you see some great big sculptures of ice, they are called glaciers. These are think sheets of ice that may move around and take sediments with them/ Glaciers can only be found in cold places, but they can melt in the summer. Glaciers flow by the depths of ice reaching 100m., and they form under their own weight. There are two types of glaciers, continental glaciers and valley glaciers. Here is an example.
