Born in Taipei, Taiwan, 1980, October 19th, Ken "Maf" Wu is on his way of making a debut in his life. For those of you who know him for quite a while would know that he is called Maf is because of his online screen name.. Mafia Godfather. He's been using this screen name for 5 years so far. This is more or less a part of him now that's inseperable. This Taiwanese guy started to work at the age of seven, in his parents' florist/nursery business.
In 1985, he was the youngest first grader in the class and was assigned to sit in the front not only because he was the shortest, and also because he was the most problematic. Already learned how to read Chinese characters at a young age, he did not learn the Chinese phonic symbols(alphabets) first like all other kids. Because of that "advancement", he failed his first Chinese phonics exam of his life.
Later, he was known in the grade school peers as a "little scientist" for his extensive knowlege in technology and science at his age. His parents once thought he was too shy and not sociable enough as a boy because all he would do after class is read books and not playing dodgeball with other students in the class. That worry soon disappeared as Ken grew more sociable with the peers and became the usual center of attention in the class.
USA: A New Hope
Ken came to the United States at the age of 10. He arrived to the American soil on July 2nd 1991. The first city he resides in is Seattle, Washington. He lived in the View Ridge Area for nearly 5 years before he moved elsewhere. He enjoyed his life in Seattle and made many friends while he was there. He was lucky to have a very wonderful neighbor, the Fairbrooks, and they made him feel accepted to the new country. Ken went to Benjamin Rush Elementary School at Redmond, Laurel Hurst Elementary School at Seattle, Eckstein Middle School at Seattle, and Roosevelt High School at Seattle.
After a brief stay at London, England. Ken Wu moved from Seattle, Washington, to Cupertino, California. Ken was enrolled into one of the most competitive public schools in the state, Monta Vista High school. However, his time there was not all that peachy. The school was more competitive plus Ken is not really a studious bookworm, he had a terrible time at the high school. His graduation GPA was not at all pretty.
Maf Strikes Back
After the humuliating high school years, Maf vowed to fight back from his junior college -- De Anza. Maf found a new motive to do well in school and he spent far more efforts than what he had spent back in Monta Vista. Ken took the classes at De Anza very seriously and also engaged in numerous extra curriculor activitie that would make his profile look better. And finally in April 2001, he received the acceptance letter from one of his dream schools... UCLA. "Even if Berekeley accepts me, I will choose UCLA" recalled Ken.
Some people are curios about Maf's love life. They would like to know his romance history. Maf would usually say that he only liked two girls in his life, and actually loved two. The girls he loved were his ex girlfriend from Cupertino and another one from UCLA, the relationship lasted no more than half of a year for both of them, but Maf often feels like it's for eternity. It is from there that he realizes the power and meaning of unconditional love. Maf often say that his greatest weaknesses, despite the fact he hates spiders and lip sticks, it is his sentiments. The heart breaking break up with his ex girlfriend resulted a period of agonizing pain.
UCLA and Still going
Ken is now a student at UCLA majoring in economics. Ken wishes to be a lawyer and an entrepreneur later on. And at the end of his life, he wishes to be remembered as a sage. "A Sage?! I don't see you as a sage." exclaimed Jack Zhuang, his high school buddy from Monta Vista and De Anza College.
