the Scorpion King is a movie stumbled after The Mummies Return. The Mummies Return had reference of the Scorpion King and was also played by The Rock. It is a story about a skilled assassin named Mathayus who was trying to fulfill an assignment to kill. His job was to find this sorcerer who was the key to a tyrant's victories and slay whoever this sorcerer is. It ends up, not surprisingly, the sorcerer is a beautiful woman, Cassandra(played by Kelly Hu). "Rather than eliminate her, he takes her deep into the desert badlands, knowing that the ruler's henchmen will stop at nothing to rescue her and bring her back. Seriously wounded in the ensuing battle, Mathayus must find the strength to lead his scrappy band of allies back to Gomorrah for a final confrontation. "(Yahoo Movies)

For me, I am a history freak. I loved Gladiator because it focused greatly on the grandeur of Roman empire and also the historical parts of it. For The Scorpion king, it's more of a legend than a historical event, so majority of it is very fictionized. I must say that the movie provides adequate amount of action, and laughs. In terms of the overall effect of the movie, i believe it was not as grand as The Mummy or The Mummies Return. Perhaps it is just a PG-13 movie so they cannot really do a full scale blood shed like in Blade II or The Gladiator. However, I just have to comment on Kelly Hu. Not bad for a 34 years old cat, NOT BAD AT ALL! =) She is sexy throughout the movie and never failed to tease the male crowd. As much as The Rock must have appealed the female audience, a figure of manliness right there. The film will be officially released on April 19th 2002.
