Keys, Chocolate, and Guys

Daniel DiSilva, lead singer of Crispin, gave a great talk from a guy’s perspective on chastity at Youth 2000 in Memphis, TN.  He stood in front of a large group of people, violently shaking his car keys in one hand as he spoke.  The he stopped and asked, “Why are you looking at my keys?”  BECAUSE IT’S DISTRACTING!  Duh! :-P  But it really drove the point home… When we women dress immodestly or give a guy too much (albeit the wrong kind) of physical attention, we distract guys’ thoughts from our personality, heart, and soul.

“I don’t make a guy look at me lustfully.  That’s his sin.”

You’re on a diet.  I stand in front of you with the chocolatest chocolate chocolate chip cake ever created by Betty Crocker and Sara Lee in a joint enterprise.  You eat the cake. Now wait a second… I didn’t MAKE you eat the cake.  Why am I responsible?  Because I led you into eating the cake.  Matthew 18:6-7 tells us “whoever causes one of these little ones [us] to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of things that cause sin! Such things must come, but woe to the one through whom they come!” Thus, I share in a part of your sin because I led you to it.  Get the idea?  We share in sin if we cause a man to look at us lustfully.

We need to protect our brothers in Christ for their future wives as we hope our future husbands are being protected.  Every man is a woman’s son and a child of God.  It is our duty as women to protect the vigilantly and guard their hearts.
