Taryn's Journal 

6/20/00 Started first class of Gymboree today. She loved it! Lots of singing, dancing, and toys. We will try to go every Tuesday & Saturday. She wasn't too interested in playing with the other kids, maybe next time.

6/26/00 Waving bye-bye now, and started pointing at things. She can point to her eyes. Saying ma-ma & da-da all the time now. Down to one nap a day now. I am lucky if it is a 2 hour nap, they are usually about 1 1/2 hours. Eating everything, there is nothing that she won't eat. Started wearing 18 months, but still some 12 months. Going to bed at about 7:30pm if nap is good, if not about 7:00pm. She is now taking baths without her bath ring. Giving kisses all the time.

8/8/00 We went to the coast on 8/5/00 and Taryn got to see the ocean for the first time. She loved it! She is started to wear some 24 months & 2T, but mostly 18 months. She is pointing at everything and has learned how to pick her nose (Or shove her finger in it) and she thinks it is the greatest thing. She got another tooth (molar) on 8/4/00. Bo is teaching her how to give hugs with big open arms.

8/16/00 Today she took her first plane trip to Florida. She didn't even know we were in the air. She was very good on the plane. We came home on the 20th.

9/2/00 First night in a toddler bed. We decided to make the move to a bed because I caught her trying to climb out of her crib. She did very well. She still hasn't realized that she can get out of this bed if she wanted to. She waits for me to come and get her. Also, she can play in her room whenever she wants to. We have baby-proofed it, so she can come and go as she pleases. She is really excited about that.

9/5/00 Got another tooth on the bottom.

9/13/00 Said 'Hello' when the phone rang and several other times today. She is eating almost everything by herself (unless it's too messy, then I feed her) She picks up the food with the fork then uses her other hand to take the food off the fork and put it in her mouth.

10/12/00 Her daily schedule is: Awake about 6:30-7am, eats breakfast about 8:30am then lunch about 11:30am and naps about 12:30pm, snack after nap, then dinner about 6:00pm and bed at 7:30pm. Molars are coming in and she is not happy about that.

Favorites as of 10/12/00: Elmo, being outside, Jake, Daddy, baby dolls, bankie, drinking out of a straw, any music, french fries

10/19/00 Her 18 month checkup and shot appt. was today. She weighs 24lbs and is 33 1/2 inches tall. Doctor said she looks good, growing nicely. And she got two shots, one in each arm. She did the best ever with the shots, hardly a cry. Were going to the dentist on Nov. 8 for a chipped front top tooth. It will be her first time at the dentist. Doctor said that regarding eating I should feed her what I want her to eat for breakfast & dinner and at lunch she can have what she wants (within reason) and if she doesn't eat much for dinner not to worry. She will eat when she is hungry and she doesn't need much at dinner time because she doesn't need much energy for going to bed! She is to continue on her vitamins.

01/17/01 Since my last entry Taryn has taken two plane trip across the country. One to Pensacola, Fl in Aug. 00 and another to Bluemont, VA for Christmas of 2000. She did very well on both trips. She is starting to actually say phrases like; Come on, Get it (to the dog), and words like grandma, puppies lots of different words. She tries counting. And she is in love the Jake (the dog) she wants to be on or near him constantly. She has very little patience! If she can't do it the first time, she will throw a fit. Loves to go to bed for naps or bedtime. She runs to her bed to get her bankie and baby, and says bye-bye when we leave the room.

Favorites as of 01/17/01: Baby dolls, baby doll stroller, anything ELMO, dogs, bankie, books, dancing, music, being outside, phones, remote controls, playing with other kids.

Dislikes as of 01/17/01: Food (she will hardly eat anything, rarely tries new things), olives, when her toys are stuck somewhere and she can't get them out.

1/22/01 Got the bottom left eye tooth on 1/20 and the top left eye tooth today. Needless to say, she has been pretty cranky. On Friday, she had a temperature of 103.7 and Saturday it was down to 101 and no temp on Sunday, then today she broke out in a rash. Called the Doctor and spoke to the nurse who said it was Roseola and it will go away on it's own. She got it from someone who had it. She is really starting to throw fits when she doesn't get her way. She is kicking, throwing things. It is not pretty.
