Live Free or Die Hard - Brandyn
photo

I was planning to see this movie the day it was released, after I got off work, But when I found out of a midnight showing, I couldn't resist. So I called up my buddy Jim and another friend, and bought our tickets and waited very impatiently because this was my most looked forward to movie of the summer pretty easily. Now don't get confused, Spider-man 3 was a huge look forward, BUT I don't consider that a Summer release, that is a spring release.

We got to the theater with plenty of time, and found very good seats, sat down, and were blown away. There is a cliché saying about movies being "Action Packed" 2007, so far has completely re-defined that term. First 300, and now Live Free or Die Hard.

Granted the movie IS rated PG-13, Unlike its 3 predecessors, so we do see a little more watered down, more family friendly John McClain, Gone are the alcoholic bad cop themes, Now he is truly a good guy hero type. But the movie doesn't suffer from this change. The movie has just as much if not more action than the others and is probably my favorite of the series.

Funness:

As previously stated, The movie truly is Action Packed. From the beginning it starts throwing punches, and only stops for about 5 minutes and instead offers you some amazing chemistry comedy from Bruce Willis, Justin Long and View Askiewniverse creator Kevin Smith. This is another movie that you can just sit back and take for a ride. Completely leave your reality behind, and enter John McClain's world, where bad guys want to tear down the world, but more importantly want to kill you.

Quality of Production:

Let me just tell you, I am not sure of the budget for this movie, But it surely was not cheap. But it was money well spent, because this movie looks beautiful. Now its not a 300 as far as SFX go, But the explosions, fighter jets and crazy acrobatic bad guy thugs all look very realistic.

Bottom Line:

Live Free or Die Hard has as much action, fun, and comedy you can pack into that sometimes constricting PG13 rating.
