Round Three: The Weakest Link
Index

10 remained to exit the Americas via Buenaventura, Colombia.

First order of business was the mini-game. James nominated Jacinto for voting in Round 1 when he wasn't supposed to. (Of course, James didn't know yet that Chrissy had done the same thing in Round 2, and David had voted against himself. It was to be a common practice in the game, but nothing worth my time to penalize.) So I went to Jacinto, gave him some drugs to run, told him to get them to one of 5 dealers. He'd get paid up to 5 Safety Stones... or he might find an undercover cop that would confiscate his drugs and his Safety Stones (but since Jacinto had none to begin with, I would ding Jacinto 5,000 votes.) Which is exactly what happened. Jacinto was released on 5,000 vote bail.

Jacinto (Portugal): All I have to say is im so f**king glad that James is outta here! He made me do the challenge which was pretty tough, but I should have asked for the money first, I knew something was fishy when he said the drugs first. O well, I think my time is coming:-(

With that, the players left for Europe, where they would spend the next 3 rounds. To prevent boredom on the long flight, they were given their confessional, which was of the free-range variety. Say whatever you want. And they spoke. But not to each other.

Chrissy (Ireland): Where are all the players, I dont see much chatting on the boards or anything. How are we supposed to strategize if we dont know what we are dealing with?

Royann (France): I'm not sure I have too much to confess. I haven't talked to the other players.

So I posted on the message board that, hey, you guys gotta start talking with each other. Landing in Heathrow Airport in London, the players drove down to the Cliffs of Dover on the U.K.'s southern coast. This would serve as the site for 'Paranoia', the main challenge. And Control reared his head in nominations. Players could not only nominate themselves, but also up to 2 other people into one of 3 categories: One conspiracy nut, 3 people who would make a good Mole, and 6 people who always got picked last for kickball. Chrissy was nominated by Colin to be the conspiracy nut, due to Colin picking names out of a hat. But Colin drew Chrissy's name again for kickball.

Chrissy (Ireland): well... I have to admit, I am into conspiracies... but youre goin a little too far there with the "picked last for kickball thing"..... how did you know about half my childhood playtime???

When it was all over, Chrissy was the conspiracy nut, Royann, Colin and David were the Moles, and Cindy, Toby, Jacinto, Nork, Andrew and Stephen were picked last for kickball. And the challenge. Paranoia only required 4 players, so the kickball players were out. Except maybe Andrew, who had home field advantage in England. He could replace any of the 4 players and take their spot.

Andrew (England): Well sorry that I haven't been around for awhile, I have been pretty busy. I don't really know where all of these people are. No one talks to me. So i decided I will be a nice person and sit out. You 4 are welcome.

So Andrew decided not to pull rank. Players remained the same. But Colin never showed, so Nork was summoned to replace him. Chrissy was downed in 7 questions, with David and Nork going in 6. David took home 4 stones, pushing him to the magic number 10. Royann and Nork got 1 each.

Ah, but the fun wasn't over. Players entered Stonehenge, remaining in England, and were now to vote on Strongest Link and Weakest Link, with both votes affecting the tallies.

Cindy (Egypt): Control showed us how evil it really was making us add votes to people. Horrible. Horrible.

Colin needed to swing some votes his way, as he was dangerously close to exiling- due to nonparticipation in Paranoia, plus his alliance with Steve, and lingering public rage from Round 1, the pre-count showed him in 9th place, ahead of only Toby. David, despite his immense skill, still barely kept his lead in the pre-count, as the "public" reasoned that he was too good and the game was becoming predictable. Thus, boring. Bad. He kept his lead, yes, just not as much of one as you'd expect. And as for Steve...

Cindy (Egypt): I'm kind of weary of Stephen. He seems like he has the game under his control, and that scares me. I've heard rumors from some other people that he's already formed alliances with other people, and I feel vulnerable because I wasn't included, and you never know who they'll go after next.

Meanwhile, back at the bottom, Colin had no idea he was teetering on the edge.

mtvcdm: You gonna use any Safety Stones this round?

Colin (Canada): Nope

mtvcdm: Any reasoning?

Colin: Ummmmm I dont need it? lol

Oh, Colin, if you only knew that the returning champ was in danger of a Round 3 exiling. Or maybe you did:

mtvcdm: Are you feeling closer to a Strongest Link right now or a Weakest Link?

Colin: Weakest...

Colin: lol

mtvcdm: How come?

Colin: Ummmmm

Colin: Because....Everyone seems to think im evil because so many people voted for me...And I've only straitened that out with a few people

So Colin might know or he might not. He certainly did after the exile, in which he beat out only Jacinto and the ultimate exile, Toby. But it wasn't a short exile. Penalities, Weakest Links, Strongest Links, audience votes, and Safety Stones abounded.

David (Australia): I don't understand why the Link voting went the way it did last week. Colin went gunning for me? I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that! And Stephen is vacillating between wanting to cooperate with Colin and wanting to cooperate with me. What gives? I suspect he realizes he chose to back the wrong horse in this game.

"Beam Me Up, Toby." Which is unfortunate, because David had confessed that if asked, he'd donate stones- which was specifically allowed in the rules- to Toby to keep him alive. All Toby needed to do was ask.

David (Australia): Toby, it's okay to ask people for help. Really.

The 9 remaining players headed for Heathrow Airport in London to depart the British Isles.

9 contestants, 8 rounds.
