Overall positions in the Tour decided by the total accumulated time of each rider on each stage.The leader on the gc wears the Yellow Jersey.

Giro:

The Giro d'Italia or Tour of Italy is the longest European race after the Tour de France.

Green jersey:

The jersey awarded to the rider in the Tour who has accumulated the greatest amount of sprint points won in each stage finish.

H

Honk:

A term for standing on the pedals,out of the sadle,to ride up hills faster.

Hooks:

The bottom part of the handlebars used when racing hard on the flat.

K

Kermesse:

Belgian town carnival at which circuit races take place.

King of the Mountains:

The leader of the climbers competition in which points are awarded to the first riders over hills and mountain passes.A red and white polka-dot jersey is awarded to the leader each day in the Tour.

Knock:

Another name for the Bonk.

L

Low Profile Bike:

Bicycle used for time trials that has a sloping top tube to give a low,front profile to improve aerodynamics.

M

Maillot Jaune:

French term for the Yellow Jersey(or the rider wearing it)awarded to the race leader in the Tour.

Musette: 

A thin canvas shoulder bag used for handing out food to the riders during the race.

P

Pave:

French term for cobblestone road surfaces.

Peleton:

The main group of riders in the race. Also called the pack or the bunch.

Prime:

French word (pronounced 'preem')for a cash prize awarded during a race sprint or on a hill summit.

S

Sitting in:

To ride in the slipstream of another rider without contributing to the pacemaking.

Soigneur:

A team's masseur or personal coach.
