TxKid Invades San Francisco

This is downtown San Francisco from the middle of the Bay Bridge. The marine intrusion is visible in the background. This eventually brought fog and drizzle into San Francisco and Oakland in the following six hours.

I spent much of June, 1999 in the Bay Area visiting friends and family. There is plenty to see and do in the area. There are enough clubs and places to eat and go an entire year without stopping in the same place twice. As much variety as the Bay Area has it does not come close to Billings since there are no casinos. One thing I noticed there. For every Forty Niners fan in the area there must be ten Raiders fans. Nearly everyone in their 20s and early 30s wears silver and black. Outside of football most of the teams in the Bay Area are bad, and always finish near the bottom, but with all of the other entertainment around nobody seems to care. The area offers no shortage of good views (Billings is better though). The aquarium rocks. I actually saw fish that I only dreamed about in the mid 80s.

The famous city hall that appears in numerous movies.

This is the Bay Bridge. Part of it actually collapsed during the earthquake in 1989.

This is the Golden Gate Bridge. I took this shot while on a ferry to Alcatraz.

This is alcatraz island itself. At one time is was a maximum security prison. It probably should still be now with all of the overcrowding and early paroles going on.

Here is a good view of San Francisco from Alcatraz.

Oakland is even larger than San Francisco. Past the marina and the bay is the industrial city with everything. It is most known for being home to the Raiders which are loved and hated by millions.
