TRANSITION
by
The late Dr. John B. Score
Look not upon my body, and think it me;
I am no withered corpse to foul your sight.
Think not I'm there imprisoned, for I'm
free
From earthly limitation, clothed in light.
Look not back upon the many years
We shared together, nor regret;
But forward throw your vision free of
tears,
And we will meet again, as once we met.
The tender thread of love so frail,
Yet strong enough to bind us all the way
Will ever hold us through the misty veil
And join us once again on Love's own day.
Dr. John B. Score (1960)
John was the founder and editor of The Wiccan
and the originator of The Pagan Front in Britain. A man of fearless
character and many talents which ranged from Astrology, poetry and metal
work to a wide-ranging knowledge of vegetarianism, local and national sociological
issues, he was a 'natural' in the realm of management and the organisation
of pressure groups. Indeed his active mind encompassed more areas
of life than can be enumerated here.
He was a champion of complementary therapies
and indeed received his doctorate from an American college for sterling
work in this latter field. John died in 1979 at the age of 65.
I remember his last words to me when we spoke by telephone a few days before
his death: "Good-bye, old friend." He will never be forgotten.
(In many lives we kept good company
and will again, old friend - Gareth.)
