Objectives
Instructional Objectives
The students will learn how to read, understand,
and interpret a graphic novel. They will also be able to respond
critically and personally to the text using a variety of strategies, resources,
and technologies. In their responses, the students will use writing,
collaboratively and independently, to explore, reflect, and clarify their
thoughts and experiences of the literature.
Behavioral Objective
The students will be able to understand and
empathize with the traumatic experiences of another person and be able
to write critical reflections on their own thoughts and feelings on the
experience. The students will be expected to improve their writing
by using new forms, greater clarity and precision, and advanced language.
Students will understand the history surrounding the text especially those
events which led to the persecution of the Jews. Students will make
a direct connection to the story of an immigrant by investigating the experience
of modern immigrants to Canada.
