The site found here contains a booklet you can download that "provides background information about research-based programs that, when properly implemented, have a track record of raising student achievement significantly--particularly for at-risk students." This webpage is a just one of the many pages found at www.aft.org, the American Federation of Teachers website.
The "Herman Method for Reversing Reading Failure" website is a bit more technical since it does presuppose some understanding of other remedial theories. It is partially a resource page, since you do get a sense of what the program involves. Unfortunately, the website functions more as a site where you can find information on attending the Herman Method workshops, than as a description of the program itself.
www.failurefree.com is another outline for a program that you can implement with students having trouble reading.
Another area where you might be able to get in touch with other educators who could help you out can be found at www.LDonline.org. This site is more general than most of the others on this webpage, but due to its apparent magnitude I feel safe in saying you'll probably be able to find what you're looking for here.
