Guide for the newbies
Travis
Nelson
First off, thanks for coming to the list and welcome.
How to start:
1) Character. You can either create one of your own, or you can choose a pre-existing character. You choose if you want to write out the history. Some do, others Rp it out over a number of months/years. It is up to your own discretion. A couple things for either case:
a. If you are creating a new character, try and keep the character rooted in reality. (Do not make them god-like. Tends to torque off the others on the list)
b. If you are going to use a pre-existing character, ask if the character is available. Someone on the list currently may be using one.
c. Here is a sample outline you can use for your character Of course you can expand on this form or only use certain pieces of it:
Name: (the real name of your character. Optional)
Alias: (Code name.)
Affiliation: (Good, Evil, Neutral)
Sex: (Male, Female, Other)
Height:
Weight:
Eye Color:
Hair Color:
Age: (Optional)
Abilities: (Super powers, skills, etc. This is also optional should you wish to detail that in an Rp)
History: (Background data, etc. Optional)
2) Start writing. The best way to start out is write an open Rp. This allows anyone on the list to join in. If you have found someone specifically that you would like to interact with, contact them (offlist) and talk with them. Communication is key on a list like this.
3) Teams. Below is a list of teams that is currently active in the world of X-Wars. New teams of course can be formed. If you are wishing to form a team of your own, it is typical to have at least three people writing a character on the team.
a. Crimson Shadow. Resident bad guys. Led by Jakob Mannix (Godd). Contact Travis Nelson for further information (godd_95@yahoo.com)
b. X-Avengers. All around good guys. Contact 2FLI for further information. (2fli1@home.com)
c. StormWatch. Overall good, though a bit to another extreme. Not sure if there is going to be an open membership for this, but there will be the StormWatch Academy. Contact Matt Pierce for more information. (vad_shooter@yahoo.com)
d. Fed21. Good guys to the extreme, Gestapo style (jack boots and all). Conceptually I believe this team is to be comprised of NPC’s (Non-Playing Characters) but feel free to contact Matt Pierce for more information. (vad_shooter@yahoo.com)
4) Rules. Like any list, there are some basic rules, which we all try and adhere to. (Emphasis on try)
a. Never kill another’s character without permission.
b. Never write another characters actions without permission. When in an Rp environment, it is recommended that you contact that person off list to find what limitations you have.
c. No on-list bitching. Try and keep all rants, pissing, moaning, crying, etc. about a person or an Rp off list. There are list moderators that will contact you should something like this become a problem.
d. Have fun.
5) Helpful hints. Below are some hints to help you in becoming familiar with X-Wars and how this list works.
a. Ask questions. If there is something you are not sure of, or something you are confused about, ask. Most everyone here is quite nice and will help you out when asked.
b. Talk with people off list. Oftentimes people put a certain face on for the list and have another off the list. You may find you get more answers when talking to someone off list than on.
c. Write, Write, Write. That is the best way to get into things on the list. Some people and teams write more than others, and some may spam more than others. In the end though, the Rp’s, our characters and the stories are what we are all here for (as well as the occasional SPAM).
d. Out of Character, and In Character. A number of the people on this list stay in character. You may feel slighted by one person, only to find out that they were playing in character. If you find yourself in this position, contact that person and talk with them off list.
e. Have Fun. That is what this list is for.
6) Helpful links. Below are some links that contain additional information that can help you along.

Hopefully this has given you some information that you can use in getting involved on X-Wars. Thanks for joining up and remember to ask about anything you are unsure of.
