It may look like I was going fast, but trust me I wasn't :-( This was a dissapointing event. I was way off the pace both Saturday and Sunday finishing a full three seconds behind the leaders. Somehow, I managed to capture fourth, but it wasn't because I earned it. My first guess was to blame the new Kumho tires I purchased. I had only run on them one previous event, and really didn't like them there, but since I finished so close to John McIver, I *thought* they were working okay.
That logic went straight out the window when Brad Lamont and Lloyd Wilson crushed me on Saturday and then followed it up with similar knock out blows on Sunday. So, it was the tires fault, right?!? Of course, that seemed way too easy, so I investigated further and determined that some idiot (me) had been running exceptionally high pressures which was the cause of the lack of grip I was complaining of. I was running on the order of 49-50 psi in the fronts and after consultation with Brett Setliff, Matt Grainger, and a couple TypeR owners I finally realized I was way off in my pressures. While dissapointed with the results of Divisionals, I was relieved it was most likely a pressure issue and not that the tires weren't working or that I just couldn't drive on them. The next event would be critical in determining if that was the case. Hopefully, the tires will work better with lower pressures <fingers crossed>. Links to photos from this event
