"Jesse" Production Notes

Jesse's friend Doc Woodson is killed after operating on a wounded outlaw. Jesse notices the distinctive markings on the leader's horse as the ride away. Lou meets Jesse on the road and he tries to steal her horse. A fight ensues, but when he finds out she's a girl, he relents. Lou, however, is willing to give this kid a chance and takes him to town with her. Jesse sees Hickok next to the same horse he saw the outlaw ride away on and tries to shoot him. The real outlaws, who are in town looking for the missing loot they left buried in the graveyard years before, see this and realize they have a problem.
Teaspoon senses Jesse is a troublemaker, but he also knows he needs some help. Jesse is determined to go it alone, but Teaspoon finally reaches the child still deep inside and gets Jesse to stay at the waystation. Hickok, Lou, the Kid and Rachel attend Doc Woodson's funeral with Jesse, but as they are all walking back to the waystation, Jesse is fired at by two of the outlaws. The Kid fires and injures one who escapes, while Hickok captures the other.

Teaspoon knows the outlaw gang, and realizes they are after their missing money. He also knows that despite his bravado, Jesse cannot protect himself from these ruthless killers. Hickok stays close to the boy, but Jesse knocks him out and steals his gun. Jesse intends to settle the score even if it means losing his own life.

Meanwhile the Kid, Noah and Buck experience local prejudice firsthand when a local proprietor bars Noah and Buck from entering his restaurant simply because they are not white.
