TRAVIS FINE BIOGRAPHY- SEASON 2
Travis Fine portrays gentle-natured Ike McSwain on the MGM/UA Emmy Award and Western Heritage Award-winning ABC series "The Young Riders." Although he can't speak, due to a childhood trauma, Ike communicates to the other riders in broken sign, learned on his own and taught by his friend Buck (Gregg Rainwater). Ike is a gentle soul in the midst of rough circumstances and can always be relied on.
"Ike lost his hair from starlet fever and his speech from witnessing the horrid, brutal deaths of his parents. He - has suffered terrible hardships, bu t his sweet demeanor and inner strength remain. A special bond develops between the half-breed Buck (another Pony Express rider) and Ike -- Buck teaches Ike the ability to communicate through a primitive signing technique," explains Travis.
Born in Atlanta, Fine knew he wanted to be an actor after seeing a production of "Treasure Island" as a kindergarten student. At seven years old, he was cast as John Henry in "Member of the Wedding," and over the next seven years, Fine acted in 13 theatre productions. At age 14, he left his hometown to attend the Children's Theatre Schools in Minneapolis, where he began writing plays and then moved to Los Angeles with his father to attend Beverly Hills High.
After high school graduation, Fine attended Pitzer College, where he played football. However, the endless auditioning was cutting into school time and Fine left at the end of the season. Back in Los Angeles, he formed the acting group called The Hostage Theatre Company with several fellow thespians.
Fine's television credits include the television movie "A Time For Miracles" with Lorne Greene and Kate Mulgrew; the episodic "TV 101" and "Cagney and Lacy," and the PBS special "Accent on You."
His extensive theatre credits include the Beverly Hills High productions of "Amadeus" in which he played Mozart and "Grease"; the Children's Theatre Company productions of "Tom Sawyer" in which he played Huck Finn and "Mr. Pickwick's Christmas"; the Barter theatre's "on Golden Pond"; the Atlanta Children's Theatre's "Legend Of Sleepy Hollow" and "The Halloween Tree"; and the Alliance Theatre's "Macbeth," "Oliver," "Peter Pan" and "A Christmas Carol."
In his free time Fine is always working at his writing: plays, screenplays and poetry. He resides in Los Angeles.
