A great little guitar, the first of this body style, with a full acoustic carved top, floating single coil pickups, and Kahler tremolo. All done in birdeye maple. Thirty coats of nitrocellulose laid over a cyanoacrilate sealer. A killer blues/rockabilly sound with controllable feedback. AND ...... none of the "birdeyes" popped up through the finish even though the top is only 1/8th of an inch thick!
The second guitar in this body style, built in a more traditional manner.( Conveniently held by Rick Nielsen) This koa topped hollowbody has the tone bar bracing carved into the top. Why carve out all the wood and then glue braces back in? The bridge, tailpiece, and all trim (even the knobs) are all hand made.
The head stock detail shows the inlay before the finish was applied. The inlay is paua, abalone, and mother of pearl.
