May Eve,Roodmas, Beltane(Beltaine)

Beltane is the Universal celebration of life. It also is a time of rejoicing the return of light, fertile fields,and the relegating of the hearth fire.
At Tara,a Beltane fire is built using a log from each of the 9 sacred trees. The ancient Kings would come for a week long feast and would leave with kindling fires for each of their hearths. In turn their people would come and take the fire to their own hearth until all the hearths in the land were from the Hearth of Tara.
Beltane is a time for marriage, planting seeds and ideas for the Lammas Harvest.It is a time for merriment,sexual union,and dancing about the May pole on May Day. A joyous time of thanks for survival and the wonderful cycle of the year and of life itself. )O(
1) I surround myself in White protective light. This can also be carried on to your loved ones, friends, enemies, and the planet itself. Be Centered and peaceful.
2)A salted herb and oil bath is one way to become centered and prepared for the beginning of a ritual.I recommend it to all prior to any ritual.......symbolic and literal cleansing.Salt being the great dispelled of negativity....I always add it to my ritual bath.
3)After bathing, I am Skyclad, or it necessary dressed in a white gown of a thin soft fabric.Natural fibbers,silk or cotton are nice.
4)Having freshly home baked quick bread(sabot bread) made with love and hopefully in a contented environment, it is placed on the alter with water and wine.
5)I approach my alter. Taking my broom I sweep the area in front of my alter. I then take my wand(a beaded feather) and draw a circle,turning three times clockwise to designate my sacred ground. Be careful not to go counterclockwise,as this is widdershins and is considered very bad joss.As I turn, I acknowledge the guardians and the directions.
6)After entering the fermentation mystery,I anoint my candles from the middle to each end while praising the Lord and Lady for the gifts I have been given.Patchouli oil is my personal favorite with a bit of cinnamon to assure prosperity.
7)I prepare my alter as usual making sure I have wine in my chalice and water in my cauldron.On this Sabbat I like to put flowers,tulips, crocus',daffodils, and if I am very,very blessed lilacs to my alter vases.I light a jasmine incense(for love and sexual energy) to the Glory of the God and Goddess.
It is now time to light my annointed candles. I use 4 white candles . One for each form of the forms of the Goddess. Three on the alter and one aside. I light them to the Glory of God and the Goddess and ask for their protection.
I then light a red candle asking for vitality,vigour and sexual energy.Then I light a green candle asking for health, prosperity and unconditional love. Then I light two sky blue candles for clear vision and spiritual growth.
Then I light a dark blue candle asking for intuitive thought and clairvoyance. Last I light two purple candles for attainment of all I invoke.
I annoint my athame and point it to the sky and read the Charge of the Goddess and the Witches creed.
8) I take the position of invocation and call out to my Goddess. In all her forms I call her. Maiden, Mother, Crone, and Temptress. I call them by name. Diana, Eris, Hecate and Aphrodite.Ma
