Tom Chambers was a power forward who could score in bunches.
His Career:
Chambers was drafted at the 8th spot in the 1981 NBA Draft, by the San Diego Clippers. He was sold to the Seattle Supersonics in 1983. In 1988 he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. In his first season with the Suns he had 25 points and a career-high 8.4 rebounds and the next year he enjoyed his best season as he scored 27.1 points per game and hit 50.1% from the field.
After 1991, his minutes were gradually reduced. In 1993 he was the 6th man of the team that reached the NBA Finals, eventually losing 4-2 to the Bulls. He played for the Utah Jazz during the next two seasons (1993-1995). After returning from Europe he played 12 games for Charlotte in 1997, averaging just 1.6 points, and one last game for Philadelphia in 1998.
Honors:
Has played in 4 All-Star Games (1987, 1989-'91). He was named MVP of the 1987 All-Star Game, after scoring 34 points. He was a member of the All-NBA Second Team, twice (1989 and 1990). He finished his career at the 19th spot in the NBA All-Time Scoring List. His jersey has been retired by the Phoenix Suns.
