Darryl Dawkins

Born: January 11, 1957
Position: Center
Height: 6-11 (2.11 m)
Jerseys worn: #53
In the NBA:
Nickname: "Chocolate Thunder", "Gorilla"
His Game:
Dawkins was a very strong and athletic player, famous for his powerful dunks.
His Career:
Selected by the Philadelphia 76ers at the 5th spot of the 1975 NBA Draft.
Honors:
He set an NBA record in 1983 with 379 fouls, only to break it the following year by committing 386!
Highlights:
Dawkins broke two backboards during the 1979-'80 season: one in November 13, 1979 and one 23 days later. This forced the league to modify the basketball rims. He had the habit to name most of his dunks. He called his first backboard-shattering jam "The Chocolate-Thunder-Flying, Glass-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Babies-Crying, Glass-Still-Flying, Cats-Crying, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Thank You-Wham-Bam-I-Am-Jam". Other names include: In Your Face Disgrace, The Go-rilla, Earthquaker Shaker, Candyslam, Dunk You Very Much, Look Out Below, Yo Mama, Turbo Sexophonic Delight, Rim Wrecker, Greyhound Bus (went coast-to-coast), Cover Your Head, Spine Chiller Supreme, Slam Bam Thank You Maam and Walk Away From Love.
