His Game:
Roy Tarpley was a very talented player who's career was ruined by drugs and alcohol. He could score and rebound very well, he played defense and his shooting skills were way above average for his size.

His Career:
He was selected by the Dallas Maverics at #7 in the 1986 Draft. He had a great rookie year and continued to improve in his second season, averaging 13.5 points and 11.8 rebounds off the bench. The following two years he put up great numbers as a starter as he scored 17 points and grabbed 12.6 rebounds per game.

After having played just 5 games into the 1990-'91 season, Tarpley got thrown out of the NBA because of cocaine use. In 1994 he was reinstated and re-signed with the Dallas Maverics. He played well for 55 games but then he got banned from the league, for life because of alcohol problems.

Honors:
Tarpley was the NBA's 6th Man of the Year in 1988.
